How to Cancel Your Summary AI Subscription: Web, PayPal, and Mobile

How you cancel a Summary AI subscription depends on who is charging you. If you signed up on the Summary AI website, you cancel in your account dashboard. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or PayPal, you have to cancel in that platform’s settings, because the app itself cannot stop billing that runs through a third party. Getting the right path on the first try is the whole trick.

Check Where You’re Being Billed

Pull up your bank or credit card statement and look at the merchant name on the recurring charge. “Apple” or “Google” means the charge is running through an app store, and that’s where the cancel button lives. PayPal on the statement means the automatic payment sits inside your PayPal account. If the charge shows Summary AI or the developer’s name directly, you subscribed on the website.

This one check saves the most common mistake: people cancel inside the Summary AI app, assume they’re done, and get charged again next month because Apple or Google was actually processing the payment. The developer can’t reach into those systems for you.

Canceling on the Summary AI Website

Log into your account on the Summary AI site. Open account settings or your profile, then find the billing or subscription tab. Your current plan should be listed there with a cancel option.

Click through the confirmation screens. Expect a couple of prompts asking why you’re leaving or offering a discount to stay; keep going until you see a screen or status that clearly says the subscription is canceled. Take a screenshot before you close the browser, and hold onto the confirmation email that follows.

Canceling Through PayPal

If PayPal shows up as the processor, cancel the automatic payment inside PayPal, not in the app. Log in, go to Settings, click Payments, then Automatic Payments. Find Summary AI in the merchant list and cancel the recurring payment from there.1PayPal. What Is an Automatic Payment and How Do I Update or Cancel One?

Confirm the Cancellation Went Through

Look for a confirmation email from whichever platform handled the payment: Summary AI, Apple, Google, or PayPal. That email is your proof. Save it somewhere outside your inbox.

Access to premium features usually continues until the end of the billing period you already paid for. After that, the account drops to a free tier or goes inactive, and no further charges should hit.

Watch your statements for at least one full billing cycle. If a new charge shows up after your confirmed cancellation date, that email receipt is what you’ll need to dispute it.

Disputing a Charge After You Canceled

For credit card charges, federal law gives you 60 days from the date the statement containing the error was sent to notify your card issuer in writing. Your notice needs to include your name and account number, the charge you believe is wrong, and why you think it’s an error.5Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 U.S.C. 1666 – Correction of Billing Errors

Debit cards and direct bank charges follow different rules under Regulation E. Report an unauthorized charge to your bank within two business days of learning about it and your liability caps at $50. Between two business days and 60 days, you could be liable for up to $500. Miss the 60-day window after the statement is sent and you risk unlimited liability for transfers that happen after that deadline.6Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. 12 CFR 1005.6 – Liability of Consumer for Unauthorized Transfers Check statements promptly; the sooner you report, the stronger your protection.

What Federal Rules Require of Subscription Services

The Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act requires online sellers using recurring billing to provide simple mechanisms to stop charges, disclose all material terms before collecting payment information, and get informed consent before charging.7Federal Trade Commission. Negative Option Rule

The FTC’s Click-to-Cancel rule, which took effect in 2025, requires businesses to make canceling as easy as signing up. If you enrolled with two clicks on a website, the company cannot route you through a phone call or a multi-step retention flow to cancel. The rule also requires sellers to stop charging you immediately once you cancel.8Federal Trade Commission. If Summary AI or any subscription service buries the cancel option, forces a phone call for something you signed up for online, or piles on steps to wear you down, you can file a complaint with the FTC at ftc.gov.

Export Your Data Before Access Ends

Summary AI keeps your meeting summaries, transcripts, and notes in the cloud. Once your subscription lapses and access is revoked, getting that content back becomes difficult or impossible. Before you cancel, log in and download or export anything you want to keep.

Retention policies vary, and billing records are usually kept longer than content for tax purposes, so don’t assume your summaries will still be there if you come back in a few months.

If you want your personal data permanently deleted after cancellation, submit a deletion request. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including California, have a legal right to request deletion of personal information. The company’s privacy policy has the instructions for filing that request.
