To cancel your TapScanner subscription, you have to go through whichever platform collects your payment: Apple’s App Store, Google Play, or Paddle (which processes web signups on TapScanner’s behalf). Deleting the app or emailing TapScanner support will not stop the charge. Each billing system keeps its own subscription record, and only that system can turn off the renewal.
Check Which Platform Bills You
Pull up your bank or credit card statement and look at the merchant name on the TapScanner charge. “Apple” or “apple.com/bill” means you subscribed through the App Store. “Google” or “GOOGLE*TapScanner” means Google Play. “Paddle” or “paddle.net” means you signed up on TapScanner’s website.
TapScanner’s own terms confirm that mobile in-app purchases are governed by the App Store’s or Google Play’s processes, while web subscriptions run through Paddle. Writing to TapScanner directly will not stop a charge that Apple or Google is collecting.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
Open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. You’ll see every active subscription on your Apple ID. Find TapScanner, tap it, and tap Cancel Subscription.
Watch the timing. Apple requires you to cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. If your annual plan renews on July 15, cancel by July 14. Miss that window and you’ll be billed for another full cycle before the cancellation takes effect.
You can also cancel from a browser by signing in at account.apple.com/account/manage/section/subscriptions. The 24-hour deadline is the same.
Cancel on Android
Cancellation runs through your Google account, not the Play Store app. Open Settings, tap Google, tap your name, then tap Manage your Google Account. Go to Payments & subscriptions, then Manage subscriptions. Find TapScanner, tap it, and tap Cancel subscription. Work through every confirmation screen to the end.
Google may ask why you’re canceling. That’s optional feedback. What matters is finishing the flow; back out early and the subscription stays active. When it’s done, your subscription status will show that it won’t renew.
Cancel a Web Subscription Through Paddle
If you signed up on TapScanner’s website, open the confirmation email Paddle sent when you first subscribed. It contains a link to Paddle’s buyer portal, where you can cancel effective at the end of your current billing period.
Lost the email? Submit a cancellation request at paddle.net. You won’t be charged again after the current period ends. Paddle does not issue partial refunds for unused time on a standard cancellation.
Cancel Before a Free Trial Converts
Free trials auto-convert to paid plans if you don’t cancel in time, and TapScanner’s paid tiers range from $4.99 per week up to $49.99 per year. On Apple, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. A three-day trial started Monday needs to be canceled by Wednesday. On Android, cancel anytime before the trial period ends.
In both cases, canceling during a trial doesn’t cut off access early. You keep trial features until the original end date. A calendar reminder a day or two before expiration is the simplest safeguard.
Request a Refund if You Were Already Charged
Canceling stops future charges but doesn’t claw back the last one. Refunds are handled by whoever billed you.
- Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the TapScanner charge, and select “Request a refund.” Apple reviews each request and doesn’t guarantee approval, though accidental trial renewals are a common reason people get them.
- Google Play: visit play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory, find the charge, and submit your request. Unauthorized charges can be reported within 120 days of the transaction.
- Paddle: contact Paddle through the buyer portal or the link in your original confirmation email.
None of these platforms promise refunds for standard renewals you simply forgot to cancel. The strongest case is a trial that converted without clear disclosure.
What You Keep After Canceling
Premium features, including cloud storage, OCR text recognition, and PDF editing, stay available until the end of the period you already paid for. A weekly plan runs out at the end of that week; an annual plan at the end of that year. After that, your account drops to the free tier.
Export anything you want to keep before paid access ends. TapScanner lets you export scans as PDFs. Cloud-stored documents may not be retrievable once premium access lapses.
Save the cancellation confirmation email, or screenshot the subscription status showing it won’t renew. If a charge still appears after your cancellation date, that record is what you’ll use to dispute it with your bank or the billing platform.
