How to Cancel Your TransUnion Subscription: Online, Phone, or Mail

To cancel your TransUnion subscription, sign in and use the cancellation option inside your account settings, call TransUnion at (833) 543-4353, or send a written request by mail. There’s one important exception: if you signed up through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel through that app store, because TransUnion doesn’t control the billing. Cancellations generally take effect at the end of the billing cycle you’ve already paid for, so your access continues until that period runs out.

Cancel Online Through Your Account

The online path depends on which product you have. Your billing statement or dashboard shows the plan name if you’re unsure.

For a Credit Membership such as Credit Essentials or Credit Premium, log in, open Settings from the main menu, click Membership Details, and scroll to the bottom of the page for the cancellation options.1TransUnion. Consumer Support Follow the prompts to confirm.

For an Identity Protection plan, the path is different. Log in to your member dashboard, open the drop-down menu in the top right, select the Protection Plan tab, and click Cancel under your current plan.1TransUnion. Consumer Support

Either way, screenshot the confirmation screen or save the confirmation email before you close the browser. That record is what you’ll rely on if a charge appears later.

Call TransUnion at (833) 543-4353. Agents are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern. The call center is closed on federal holidays.2TransUnion. TransUnion Credit Memberships Help Center

Tell the representative you want to cancel. Have your full name, the email on the account, and possibly the last four digits of your Social Security number ready for identity verification. You may be offered a discount or a downgrade; you don’t have to accept. Before you hang up, ask for a confirmation number or a confirmation email. That number is your proof of when the cancellation was made.

Cancel Through Apple or Google If You Subscribed on Your Phone

This is the step people miss. If you originally subscribed through an app on your phone, Apple or Google handles the billing, not TransUnion. Canceling inside the TransUnion app or website won’t stop those charges.

iPhone or iPad

Open Settings and tap your name at the top. Tap Subscriptions, find TransUnion in the list, tap it, then tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to see the button. If you see an expiration message in red instead, the subscription is already canceled.3Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile icon. Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Tap the TransUnion subscription, then Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts. Cancel at least 48 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged for another cycle. Google emails a cancellation receipt; save it.

Cancel by Mail

A written cancellation creates a paper trail, which is worth the extra time if you expect any dispute over whether you actually canceled. Include your full name, the email address on the account, the plan you want canceled, and your signature with the date. Keep the language direct: “I am requesting cancellation of my [plan name] subscription effective immediately.”

Send it USPS Certified Mail with a return receipt. The return receipt shows when TransUnion received the letter, though its weight as legal evidence depends on the circumstances and jurisdiction.4United States Postal Service. Electronic Return Receipt Allow extra processing time compared with online or phone cancellation.

What Happens After You Cancel

TransUnion typically sends a confirmation email after processing the cancellation. If you canceled by phone, you should already have a confirmation number. Check your inbox and your spam folder within a few days.

Your access usually continues through the end of the billing cycle you already paid for rather than shutting off the same day. After that date, watch your credit card or bank statements for the next two billing cycles. A single stray charge could be administrative lag, but repeated charges after cancellation mean something didn’t go through.

Credit Freezes and Fraud Alerts Are Not Affected

Canceling a paid subscription does not remove a credit freeze or fraud alert from your TransUnion file. Credit freezes are always free and are managed separately from any paid product.5TransUnion. Credit Freeze FAQs Fraud alerts are also free and stay accessible through TransUnion’s Service Center regardless of subscription status.6TransUnion. Fraud Alerts

One distinction matters here. Some paid plans include a “credit lock” feature, which sounds like a freeze but isn’t. A credit lock tied to a subscription may stop working when the subscription ends. A credit freeze you placed independently through the free service stays active until you remove it yourself.5TransUnion. Credit Freeze FAQs

If You’re Charged After Canceling

Call TransUnion first at (833) 543-4353 with your confirmation number, screenshot, or certified mail receipt.7TransUnion. TransUnion Credit Memberships Help Center Most billing errors get corrected quickly once you can show the cancellation date.

If that doesn’t resolve it, dispute the charge with your credit card issuer. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you have 60 days from the date the charge appeared on your statement to send a written billing dispute to the issuer.8Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 US Code 1666 – Correction of Billing Errors The letter has to identify the charge and explain why it’s an error. The issuer then has two billing cycles, and no more than 90 days, to investigate and resolve it. During that investigation, the issuer cannot collect the disputed amount or report it as delinquent.

The 60-day window is strict. If you don’t notice an unauthorized charge until three months later, you may lose the right to dispute it through your card issuer. That’s why watching your statements for two full billing cycles after cancellation matters: it’s the window where your legal protections are strongest.
