To cancel your Viu subscription, you have to go through whichever company actually charges you: Viu directly, Google Play, Apple, Roku, Amazon, or your telecom provider. The Viu app’s own settings only help if you signed up on viu.com with a credit card. Canceling in the wrong place is the most common reason people keep getting billed after they think they’ve unsubscribed.
Find Out Who’s Billing You
Open the Viu app or go to viu.com, log in, and check “My Account” or “Member Center” in your profile. It should show whether your subscription is billed by Viu directly, through an app store, or through a telecom bundle.
If that isn’t clear, look at your bank or credit card statement. A charge labeled “Google” or “Apple” tells you which app store handles the billing. A charge from a telecom provider like Singtel or StarHub means you’re on a bundled plan. You can only cancel through whoever is collecting the payment.
Cancel Directly Through Viu
If you signed up on viu.com with a credit card, log into your account on the website or app, open “My Account,” go to “Subscriptions,” and select the option to unsubscribe.1Unifi. Frequently Asked Questions for New OTT Partner Viu Recurring charges stop at the next renewal date.
Cancel Through Google Play on Android
If you subscribed inside the Viu app on an Android phone, Google Play is your biller. Canceling inside the Viu app does nothing.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon, then “Payments & subscriptions,” then “Subscriptions.”
- Find Viu in your active subscriptions.
- Tap “Cancel subscription” and follow the prompts.
You keep Premium access until the end of the current billing period and won’t be charged at renewal.2Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
Cancel Through Apple on iPhone or iPad
Apple handles App Store subscriptions through your device settings, not through the Viu app.
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap “Subscriptions.”
- Select Viu.
- Tap “Cancel Subscription.”
If there’s no Cancel button and you see an expiration message in red instead, the subscription is already canceled.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
If you’re on a free or discounted trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Otherwise Apple may process the charge for the next full period before the cancellation takes effect.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple For regular paid subscriptions, you can cancel anytime before the renewal date.
Cancel Through Roku
First confirm Roku is actually billing you. Check your bank statement for charges labeled “Roku” or “Roku for ___,” or visit my.roku.com/subscriptions to see your active subscriptions. If Viu isn’t listed there, Roku isn’t your biller.
If Roku is your biller, you have two options:
- On the web, go to my.roku.com/subscriptions, find Viu under “Active subscriptions,” select “Manage subscription,” and click “Turn off auto-renew.”
- On your Roku device, press Home, highlight the Viu app, press the Star button on your remote, select “Manage subscription,” and choose “Turn off auto-renew.”
You can keep watching until the current billing period ends. Roku does not issue partial-term refunds.4Official Roku Support. Manage or Cancel Subscriptions on Roku
Cancel Through Amazon
If you subscribed through the Amazon Appstore, cancel on Amazon’s website:
- Go to “Your Account” on Amazon.
- Under “Digital content and devices,” select “Your Apps.”
- Click “Your Subscriptions” under the “Manage” menu.
- Find Viu and turn off auto-renewal.
Access continues until the current subscription period expires.5Amazon Customer Service. Manage Your Appstore Subscriptions From the Website
Cancel Through a Telecom Provider
Some telecoms in Asia bundle Viu Premium with mobile or broadband plans. If that’s how you signed up, cancel through your provider’s app or website, not through Viu. Log in, open the add-ons or value-added services section, and remove the Viu subscription.
Bundled plans sometimes follow different billing cycles than a standard monthly subscription. Some providers prorate the charge if you cancel mid-cycle; others keep the service active until the end of your billing period. Check your provider’s terms.
Deleting the App Does Not Cancel the Subscription
Uninstalling Viu from your phone or tablet does nothing to stop recurring charges. The subscription is held by the billing platform, not the app on your device. You can delete Viu from every device you own and still be charged month after month until you cancel through the correct platform.
What Happens After You Cancel
You’ll typically get a confirmation email. Premium features — ad-free streaming, HD quality, downloads, and early access — stay available until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. After that, your account reverts to Viu’s free tier, which still offers some content with ads and lower video quality.
Refund policies vary. Google Play and Apple each have their own refund processes, but neither routinely refunds a mid-cycle cancellation. For a refund dispute, contact the billing platform rather than Viu.
