The Cancellation Steps
The whole process takes about two minutes. On the Amazon website:
- Open Your Memberships & Subscriptions from the Account & Lists menu.
- Find the Grocery Subscription listing and click Cancel Grocery Subscription.
- Click Cancel Subscription to confirm.

Cancelling a Free Trial Before You’re Charged
If you signed up for a free trial, use the same steps to cancel before the trial converts. Amazon’s help page says you can “cancel your free trial to ensure that it doesn’t convert to a full Grocery Subscription.”1Amazon. If You’re on an Amazon Household Plan
When the grocery subscription sits inside an Amazon Household, only the primary account holder can cancel it. What Happens After You Cancel
Your subscription keeps working until the end of your current billing cycle, then access to the free delivery benefit ends.1Amazon. You can still order Whole Foods delivery as a Prime member after cancelling, but each order will carry a $9.95 service fee instead of being covered by the subscription.4Amazon. Refunds on the Annual Plan
If you paid $99.99 for the annual plan rather than $9.99 monthly, cancelling partway through raises the refund question. Amazon’s Prime terms allow a full refund if you cancel within three business days of signing up or converting from a free trial.5Amazon. Amazon Prime Terms and Conditions After that window, the standard cancellation flow sets the subscription to stop renewing rather than issuing an automatic prorated refund.
If you want a partial refund on an annual plan you’ve barely used since the last charge, contact Amazon customer service through live chat and ask. Representatives can issue refunds on a case-by-case basis. It isn’t guaranteed, but it’s worth the request.
Don’t Confuse It With Subscribe & Save
Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program for recurring product shipments (paper towels, vitamins, pet food) is a separate system. Cancelling the grocery subscription does nothing to those recurring orders. To stop a Subscribe & Save item, open Your Subscribe & Save Items, select the product, and cancel it there.6Amazon.
