How to Cancel Your WoW Subscription: Battle.net, Apple, and Refunds

To cancel your WoW subscription, sign in at account.blizzard.com/games, click Manage next to your World of Warcraft license, and choose Cancel Subscription. The cancellation stops future charges but leaves your paid time intact — you keep playing until the current billing period ends. The one exception: if you originally subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel through that store, not Blizzard.

Cancel Through Battle.net

Go to the Games & Subscriptions page at account.blizzard.com/games and sign in with your Battle.net email and password. If you have an authenticator or SMS Protect on the account, have it ready.

Find your active World of Warcraft license. It’ll be labeled something like WoW1, or whatever custom name you set. Click Manage next to it, then Cancel Subscription. Blizzard asks why you’re leaving; pick any reason and confirm.

Once you confirm, the page should update to show an expiration date instead of a renewal date. That expiration date is when you actually lose access. You’re not cut off the moment you click cancel.

The Battle.net mobile app works the same way. Tap your profile, open account settings, find subscription management, then Cancel Subscription. The app opens a mobile version of the same account page, so the steps mirror the desktop flow.

Cancel Through Apple or Google

If you signed up through a mobile app store, Blizzard doesn’t control the billing and the cancel button won’t appear inside Battle.net. The recurring charge lives with Apple or Google, so that’s where you have to go.

iPhone, iPad, or Mac

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Tap World of Warcraft, then Cancel Subscription. If there’s no cancel button and you see an expiration date in red, it’s already canceled. On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, go to Account Settings, scroll to Subscriptions, and click Manage.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

If you’re on a free or discounted trial through Apple, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged for the first full cycle.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

Android

Open the Google Play Store and go to your subscriptions. Select World of Warcraft, tap Cancel Subscription, and follow the prompts. Uninstalling the game does not cancel the subscription.2Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

No Cancel Button on the Battle.net Page

The most common reason the option is missing: you’ve already canceled and are playing on prepaid time. If the account shows an expiration date rather than a renewal date, it’s done.

The next most common reason is that the subscription is billed through Apple or Google. Cancel through that store instead.

If neither fits, removing the payment method from your Battle.net wallet will stop future charges. If that still doesn’t resolve it, open a support ticket with Blizzard’s billing team. The web interface has occasional quirks a live agent can fix manually.

What You Keep After Canceling

Access continues through the end of whatever billing period you’ve already paid for. Pay for six months in March, cancel in April, and you still play through September.

When paid time expires, the account drops to what Blizzard calls a Starter Edition state. You can still log in and play any character to level 20, but with restrictions: no auction house, no mailbox, no trades, no guilds, and no current expansion content.

Your characters stay put. Blizzard does not delete inactive characters regardless of how long the account sits dormant. Character names may eventually become available to other players after roughly two full expansion cycles of inactivity, but the character itself remains on your account and you can reclaim it whenever you resubscribe.3World of Warcraft Forums. Blizzard typically sends a confirmation email after the cancellation goes through. Save it. If a charge shows up on your statement after that date, the email is your proof for disputing it.

Getting a Refund on a Renewal

If the subscription just renewed and you didn’t want it to, Blizzard will refund unused World of Warcraft subscription time within 14 days of the charge. The word “unused” matters. If you’ve been logging in and playing on that renewed time, a refund gets harder to secure.

Start with Blizzard’s automated refund system through the support portal. If the automated system rejects the request, which is more likely if you’ve received a refund before, open a support ticket for a human to review. Players consistently report better results with a live agent than with the automated flow.

If You Can’t Log Into Battle.net

If you’ve lost access to your authenticator or the phone number tied to the account, you can’t reach the cancel page until the authenticator is removed. Blizzard has a dedicated removal request form on the support portal that doesn’t require an authenticator code to submit. Expect the process to take several days, and don’t close the support ticket while you’re waiting for a response.
