To complete the ACCA PER form, you work inside the MyExperience tool in your myACCA account: you record each relevant job you’ve held, write a statement against each of the nine performance objectives, and have a qualified supervisor sign everything off. The form isn’t a single document you fill in at the end. It’s a running record you build up over the 36 months of relevant work experience ACCA requires before membership, alongside your exams and the Ethics and Professional Skills module.1ACCA Global. Approved Employer PER Confirmation Form
Three things must be in place before ACCA will process your membership application: 36 months in a relevant accounting or finance role, nine achieved performance objectives, and a completed Ethics and Professional Skills module.2ACCA Global. Apply for Membership Everything below is how you build the first two inside MyExperience.
Logging In and Recording Each Role
Open MyExperience through your myACCA portal. For every role you hold during your training, you enter the employer’s name and address, your job title, your ACCA registration number, and the exact start and end dates of employment.1ACCA Global. Approved Employer PER Confirmation Form Get the dates right. ACCA uses them to calculate whether you’ve hit 36 months, and anything inconsistent will hold up your application.
You also pick the sector — public practice, corporate, or public sector, for example. Change jobs during your training and you simply add the next role as a new entry. The 36 months don’t have to come from one employer.
Part-Time Hours and Partially Relevant Work
ACCA treats 35 hours a week as full-time. Work less and your experience is pro-rated: 1,540 hours of part-time work counts as 12 months of full-time experience. You enter your weekly hours and MyExperience does the arithmetic.3ACCA Global. Student FAQs on the PER
There’s a separate adjustment if your job only partly involves accounting or finance. If roughly half your working time goes on relevant tasks, you can claim six months in every twelve. You input the percentage of time you spend on accounting or finance activities, and the system credits you accordingly.3ACCA Global. Student FAQs on the PER The two adjustments can stack. A part-time role with limited finance exposure gets cut on both counts, so track your actual hours and responsibilities from day one.
Choosing Your Nine Performance Objectives
The nine objectives split into two groups. Five Essentials are compulsory for every trainee:4ACCA Global. Performance Objectives
- Ethics and professionalism
- Stakeholder relationship management
- Strategy, innovation and sustainable value creation
- Governance, risk and control
- Leadership and management
You then choose four Technical objectives from a list of seventeen covering corporate and business reporting, financial management, management accounting, taxation, audit and assurance, and advisory and consultancy.4ACCA Global. Performance Objectives Pick the four that match what you actually do. A trainee in tax might take tax computations, tax compliance, tax planning, and a reporting objective. Someone in an audit role would pull their four from the audit and assurance group.
Writing Statements That Will Pass
For each objective you write a statement describing how your work demonstrates competency against it. Each objective comes with three things to work from: a short description, five elements setting out the specific tasks, skills, and behaviors you need to show, and the blank space for your written statement.4ACCA Global. Performance Objectives
This is where most trainees either succeed or get sent back. “I helped with month-end reporting” tells a reviewer nothing. A statement that works names the project, the tools, and the outcome. If you assisted on a statutory audit, describe the procedures you performed, the accounting software you used, and what the engagement achieved. If you improved an internal control, explain what was broken, what you changed, and the measurable result, such as fewer reporting errors or a shorter reconciliation cycle.
ACCA doesn’t publish an official word count, but 200 to 500 words per objective is widely cited as practical guidance. Shorter and the reviewer can’t verify you did the work. Longer and the detail drifts into padding. Aim for enough specificity that someone reading cold could picture the task and judge the outcome.
Watch the Ethics Statement
The Ethics and professionalism Essential is easy to treat as a formality, and that’s the mistake. Your statement has to show you applied ethical principles in a real work situation, not that you attended training on them. Describe a genuine scenario: a conflict of interest you identified, confidential information you handled under pressure, or a point where you pushed back because something fell short of professional standards. The Ethics and Professional Skills module gives you the framework; this statement proves you used it.4ACCA Global. Performance Objectives
Getting a Qualified Supervisor to Sign Off
Every objective needs sign-off from a practical experience supervisor. To qualify, that person must be a member of an IFAC member body or recognized by law as an accountant in your country, and they must work closely enough with you to know the quality of your work firsthand.5ACCA Global. Practical Experience Supervisors
If your line manager isn’t a qualified accountant, they can still sign off the time you spent in a relevant role, but you’ll need a separate qualified supervisor for the performance objectives themselves. That second supervisor might be another manager at the organization, a consultant, or even your company’s external auditor, provided they have a business connection to your employer.5ACCA Global. Practical Experience Supervisors This split is common at smaller firms where no one on staff holds the right credentials.
A good supervisor does more than sign at the end. They help you decide which objectives to target, agree timescales, arrange work opportunities such as rotations or project assignments that give you the right exposure, and review your progress before the final sign-off.5ACCA Global. Practical Experience Supervisors Treating supervision as a formality is one of the most common mistakes trainees make. Someone involved from early on will produce far stronger sign-offs than someone asked to verify two years of work they barely remember reviewing.
You can have more than one supervisor across your training, which is normal if you change jobs or departments during the 36 months.
If You Work for an ACCA Approved Employer
Work for an ACCA Approved Employer with trainee development approval at Gold or Platinum level and the documentation side changes. Instead of recording individual performance objectives in MyExperience, you achieve them through the employer’s structured training program.6ACCA Global. Approved Employers
The 36-month experience requirement still applies in full. What changes is how you document the objectives, not the time you have to put in. You still use MyExperience to record employment details and to flag that you intend to claim objectives through the Approved Employer route. When you reach 36 months, you download and submit the Approved Employer PER confirmation form rather than going through objective-by-objective sign-off.6ACCA Global. Approved Employers Check with your employer early to confirm whether they offer this route and what their internal requirements look like.
Submitting and Applying for Membership
Once your supervisor has signed off all nine performance objectives and your 36 credited months are recorded in MyExperience, you’re ready to apply for membership. The exams and the Ethics and Professional Skills module have to be done as well; ACCA won’t process a membership application until all three sit in place.2ACCA Global. Apply for Membership
On the standard route, your recorded objectives and sign-offs are already in the system and get reviewed as part of your membership application. On the Approved Employer route, you submit the confirmation form through the Help section inside myACCA or upload it during the membership application itself.1ACCA Global. Approved Employer PER Confirmation Form
Admission to membership carries a fee of £326, payable when your application is approved.7ACCA Global. Fees and Charges ACCA doesn’t publish a fixed timeline for the post-submission review, so leave some buffer if you’re planning around a specific start date for your new designation.
A Word on Honesty in What You File
Falsifying experience records or inflating statements is treated as dishonesty, which ACCA categorizes as inherently more serious than negligence or lack of competence. Sanctions range from reprimands and fines up to voiding a specified period of experience (which forces you to redo it), exam disqualification, and removal from the student register or exclusion from membership.8ACCA Global. Guidance for Disciplinary Sanctions If you aren’t sure whether a particular role or task genuinely qualifies for a performance objective, ask your supervisor before you write the statement rather than stretching the facts after.
