The Club Pilates liability waiver is a required pre-class agreement in which you accept the physical risks of reformer-based Pilates and release the studio from most negligence claims. Every participant has to sign one before the first session, including free intro classes. You can complete it online through the Club Pilates member portal or mobile app while booking, or sign it on a tablet or paper form at the front desk. If you’re handling it in person, arrive at least 15 minutes early so the paperwork doesn’t eat into class.1Club Pilates. Intro Pilates Class – Club Pilates Offers
Where and How to Sign
Most new members hit the waiver the moment they book their first class. The website portal and the app both walk you through the form screen by screen, and the booking won’t finish until every required field is filled. Prefer to do it face to face? The front desk can pull up the form on a tablet or hand you a paper copy. You only sign once. The waiver then applies to that studio and to every other Club Pilates franchise location you visit.2Club Pilates. Club Pilates Liability Waiver
What the Form Asks For
Have the basics ready before you start: full legal name, current home address, phone number, and email. You’ll also need to name an emergency contact and provide their phone number.
A health section asks you to confirm that you are in good physical condition and have no disability, impairment, or ailment that would make exercise dangerous. The studio recommends consulting a physician before starting the program. The waiver also places the responsibility on you to tell the instructor if you feel pain before, during, or after a session so the exercise can be stopped immediately.2Club Pilates. Double-check every field before submitting. A typo in your email can delay your booking confirmation, and an inaccurate health disclosure can cause problems later if the studio’s records don’t match reality.
What You’re Actually Agreeing To
The language is dense, but three commitments do most of the work.
Assumption of Risk
You acknowledge that Pilates carries physical dangers, including slipping, falling, muscle strains, fatigue, and equipment-related injuries. You accept those risks personally and confirm you are participating voluntarily.2Club Pilates. Club Pilates Liability Waiver
Release of Liability
This is the clause that gives up your right to sue. You release Club Pilates, the studio’s owners, managers, instructors, and employees from any claims arising out of the studio’s negligence, whether active or passive. If an instructor makes a mistake during class, or a reformer spring snaps despite routine maintenance, this clause is designed to prevent you from recovering damages. The waiver states plainly that you understand you are giving up substantial legal rights by signing.2Club Pilates. Club Pilates Liability Waiver
Cancellation Fees
The waiver also locks in the class cancellation policy. You need to cancel at least 12 hours before a group class or intro session to avoid a penalty. After that window:3Club Pilates. I Need To Cancel My Booking, Will I Be Charged?
- Class-credit members lose one credit from their package.
- Unlimited members pay a $15 fee for a late cancel within 12 hours.
- Unlimited members pay a $20 fee for a no-show with no prior cancellation.
You’ve agreed to those penalties by the time you walk into your first class.
Arbitration and No Class Actions
The Club Pilates Terms of Use include a mandatory arbitration clause covering all disputes between you and the company. Agreeing to the terms means you waive your right to a jury trial and your right to join a class action or class-wide arbitration.4Club Pilates. Club Pilates Terms of Use Arbitration runs through the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, and the Federal Arbitration Act governs the process.5Club Pilates. What the Waiver Cannot Do
No waiver can shield a business from gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional harm. Gross negligence goes beyond carelessness and involves blatant disregard for safety, such as knowingly keeping broken equipment in use. Courts almost universally refuse to enforce waivers that try to excuse that level of misconduct.6Vanderbilt University. Unenforceable Waivers
Enforceability also varies by state. A handful of states treat gym and fitness waivers as void against public policy, which means the release of liability clause carries no legal weight regardless of your signature. If you have serious concerns about your rights, check your state’s consumer protection statutes or talk to an attorney before signing.
Signing for a Minor
Children under 14 are not allowed in a Club Pilates studio at all. Teenagers aged 14 to 17 can take classes, but only if a parent or guardian signs a separate Minor Participant Waiver in person at the studio, and the minor has to be actively enrolled in a class or session rather than just hanging around.7Club Pilates. Is There A Minimum Age Requirement To Attend Club Pilates? A parent-signed waiver is legally shakier than one you sign for yourself; courts in several jurisdictions have found that a parent cannot waive a child’s future right to sue for injuries, and enforceability varies widely by state.
The Media Release
The waiver also includes a media release giving Club Pilates permission to use photos or video of you for marketing, including social media and national franchise advertising. It applies to images captured at any location. The text does not spell out a formal opt-out process, so if you don’t want to appear in marketing, raise it with the front desk before you sign.
After You Submit
Once you submit the form, the studio’s system updates your profile to show a completed waiver, and you can book classes right away. You should receive a confirmation email with a copy of the signed document. Save it. That email is your proof of what you agreed to, and you may want to go back to it if a dispute ever comes up.2Club Pilates.
