How to Fill Out and Sign the Escapology Waiver Form

Every player at an Escapology escape room has to sign a waiver and release of liability before entering a game, and the Escapology waiver form can be completed two ways: online through the link in your booking confirmation, or on a tablet at the front desk when you arrive. No one goes into a room without one on file.

What the Form Asks For

The waiver is short. You’ll fill in:

  • Your full printed name
  • Your age, which confirms you are 18 or older and can sign for yourself
  • An email address for your booking record and confirmation
  • The date and time of your scheduled game
  • Your signature and the date, electronic if you’re signing online or by pen on a paper form at the venue

You don’t need to bring a government ID just to complete the waiver, though carrying one for check-in rarely hurts.

Signing Online Before You Arrive

The quickest option is to sign before you leave the house. Your booking confirmation email contains a link to the waiver, and most local Escapology pages also have a “Sign Waiver” option. Open it, fill in the fields, draw your signature with a mouse or your finger on a touchscreen, and submit. Wait for the confirmation that it went through. Everyone in your group needs their own waiver, so forward the link to the rest of your party.

Signing at the Venue

If you skip the online step, you can sign on-site. Escapology asks groups to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start to handle check-in, waivers, and the host’s game briefing.1Escapology. Showing up at your start time with a group of unsigned players is the most common way a reservation starts late.

At check-in, a host confirms the reservation and verifies that each person in the party has a waiver on file. Anyone missing one completes it before the group goes in.2Escapology. How Escapology Works – Your Escape Room Guide

Signing for a Child

A player under 18 cannot sign for themselves. A parent or legal guardian fills out the minor’s waiver, writes in the child’s name, and signs and dates the guardian section of the form. Some locations may ask for a document showing you are the child’s parent or guardian, so bring one if you want check-in to go smoothly.

Each minor needs a separate waiver. Three kids in your group means three minor waivers plus your own.

What You Are Agreeing To

The form is a legal release, not a sign-in sheet. By signing, you agree to several things at once:

  • Assumption of risk. You acknowledge that escape rooms involve physical activity in dimly lit spaces with props and puzzles, and that minor bumps, trips, or scrapes are possible.
  • Release of liability. You agree not to sue Escapology, its employees, or the franchise owner for injuries or damages arising from normal gameplay.
  • Personal property disclaimer. Escapology is not responsible for your belongings. A secure area is provided for phones and other items before you enter the room.1Escapology. Your Escape Room Questions Answered – Escapology FAQs
  • Photography and media consent. You may be granting permission for Escapology to use photos or video from your visit in promotional materials.
  • Governing jurisdiction. The waiver names the state whose laws apply if a dispute goes to court.

A liability waiver for a recreational activity generally protects the business against claims from the ordinary risks of that activity. It does not typically shield a company from injuries caused by reckless conduct or dangerous conditions the business knew about and ignored, and the enforceability of any specific clause depends on your state’s law.

If You Refuse to Sign

Signing is not optional. Escapology’s terms state that refusing to complete the waiver, or filling it out with false information, results in denial of entry, and the same rule applies to anyone who shows up too intoxicated to play. Reservations are non-refundable. If you are turned away, you can contact the location to ask about store credit or rescheduling, but any cancellation change has to be made at least 24 hours before your booking.3Book Covington – Escapology. One Thing Worth Knowing Before You Sign

The rooms are never actually locked. Every door stays unlocked throughout the game, so you can step out for a restroom break, if you feel unwell, or in an emergency.1Escapology. Your Escape Room Questions Answered – Escapology FAQs The challenge is the puzzle, not physical confinement.

If you have a heart condition, are pregnant, or have another medical concern that could be affected by stress, dark spaces, or sudden surprises, use your own judgment before signing. The assumption-of-risk clause places the responsibility for knowing your limits on you. Call the location ahead of time and ask how intense a given room is if you aren’t sure.
