How to Fill Out and Submit a Pella Warranty Claim Form

To file a Pella warranty claim, submit a service request at pella.com/support/request-visit/ with your product’s serial number and proof of purchase; a Pella representative will contact you within three to five business days to review the issue and schedule a service visit if one is needed. Storm doors, garage doors, skylights, and products bought at Lowe’s or another retailer take a different route — call Pella Customer Service at 877-473-5527 instead of using the online form.1Pella. What You Need Before Filing

Pella asks for two items specifically: the product’s serial number (also called the Unit ID) and your proof of purchase.2Pella. Warranties Photos of the defect aren’t required to open the request, but having them ready moves things along once a representative calls.

Finding the Serial Number

Every Pella window and door carries a small alphanumeric label that links the unit to its manufacturing records. Where to look depends on the material:

  • Vinyl and fiberglass windows: between the glass panes, in an upper or lower corner.
  • Wood and clad-wood windows: between the glass, attached to the glass in a lower corner, or on the frame itself.
  • Vinyl and fiberglass patio doors: between the glass in an upper or lower corner.
  • Wood and clad-wood patio doors: between the glass, on the frame, or attached to the glass in a lower corner.

The label is a code, not a large sticker, and can be hard to spot on older units. Pella publishes visual guides for each product type at pella.com/support/find-serial-number/.3Pella. Find The Serial Number On Your Pella Windows and Doors

Proof of Purchase

Your purchase order, order number, or sales receipt works. Pella uses it to confirm the product is within its warranty window and to determine whether you are the original purchaser or a subsequent owner, which affects what coverage applies.2Pella. Warranties

Photos of the Defect

Take a wide shot showing the window or door installed in the wall, plus close-ups of the specific problem: fogging between panes, cracked frames, hardware that won’t latch, visible seal failure. Clear images let the representative decide quickly whether to ship parts or dispatch a technician.

How to Submit the Claim

For most windows and patio doors, the online form at pella.com/support/request-visit/ asks you to describe the issue, enter your contact information, and provide the product details including the serial number. Submit it and wait for Pella to reach out.1Pella. Schedule a Service Visit

What Happens After You File

Expect a call or email from a Pella representative within three to five business days of submitting the online form.1Pella. Schedule a Service Visit The representative reviews the issue, asks follow-up questions, and decides whether an on-site visit is needed. Straightforward problems like a broken crank handle or worn weatherstripping often result in parts being shipped directly, no inspection required.

More complex defects — fogging between panes, frame warping, water infiltration — usually bring a technician out. Final timing depends on part availability. Standard hardware and weatherstripping arrive quickly. Custom glass units and specialty components for older product lines can take longer, since they sometimes have to be built to order.

The Two-Year Labor Window

Pella’s labor coverage runs two years from the date of purchase. During that period, both the parts and the installation work are covered. After the two-year window closes, Pella still ships replacement parts at no charge if the component warranty is still in effect, but you pay for the labor to install them.2Pella. Warranties This is the single most important date to know when deciding whether to file.

Coverage periods for the parts themselves vary by product line and component — frame, sash, glass, hardware, screens, and electronics each have their own term. Download the warranty document for your specific product at pella.com/support/warranties/ or call 877-473-5527 to confirm what applies.2Pella. Warranties

When a Claim May Be Denied

Pella’s warranty covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover damage caused by how the product was installed, modified, or maintained. The language in the warranty consistently ties denials to whether your actions contributed to the defect:

  • Installation that did not follow Pella’s instructions.2Pella. Warranties
  • Modifications such as drilling into the product for blinds, pet doors, or security systems, if the modification contributed to the defect.2Pella. Warranties
  • Painting exterior cladding or vinyl, which Pella does not recommend, if the paint contributed to the defect.2Pella. Warranties
  • Aftermarket window tinting that caused glass stress or seal failure.2Pella. Warranties
  • Improper storage of products before installation.2Pella. Warranties

Routine maintenance — keeping weep holes clear, lubricating hardware, maintaining wood finishes per Pella’s owner’s manual — is what prevents a “contributed to the defect” denial on an otherwise valid claim.

If You Bought the House Secondhand

You still have coverage, but less of it. Lifetime coverage that applied to the original purchaser automatically converts to a transferable ten-year limited warranty for subsequent owners. Components that already carried a ten-year term, like hardware, transfer at their existing terms.6Pella. Pella Limited Warranty Vista Series Window and Patio Door Call 877-473-5527 with the serial number and Pella can look up the original purchase date to tell you how much of the ten-year transfer window is left.

If Pella Denies the Claim

Pella products purchased on or after February 10, 2017 come with a binding arbitration agreement. Disputes are resolved through arbitration administered by National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM) rather than in court, and the agreement includes a class action waiver.7Pella. Arbitration and Class Action Waiver

You can opt out, but the window is ninety calendar days from the date you purchased or took ownership of the product. Email pellawebsupport@pella.com with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out” or call 877-473-5527. Include your name, address, purchase date, and where you bought the product. Those are the only two methods Pella accepts.7Pella. Arbitration and Class Action Waiver

Small claims court remains available regardless of whether you opted out of arbitration.6Pella. Pella Limited Warranty Vista Series Window and Patio Door For a dispute over a single window or a modest repair bill, that route is often faster and cheaper than arbitration.
