How to Fill Out and Submit the Altura Direct Deposit Form: Routing and Timing

The Altura direct deposit form, officially the Direct Deposit Change/Origination Request, is the single document you need to route your paycheck into an Altura checking or savings account. Download it from Altura’s website, fill in your employer and account details, sign it, and hand it to your payroll department. Setup usually takes one to two pay cycles, and depending on your employer’s payroll provider, Altura may post your funds up to two days before your scheduled payday.1Altura Credit Union. Where to Get the Form

How to Fill Out Each Section

Employer and Employee Information

At the top, write your employer’s name and full mailing address: street, city, state, and ZIP. Below that, enter your name exactly as it appears on your payroll records, along with your Social Security number. Payroll uses the SSN to match the authorization to your file, so a typo here is one of the most common reasons a first deposit misses.3Altura Credit Union. Direct Deposit Change/Origination Request

Discontinuation

If you are moving your direct deposit from another bank or credit union, use the two lines in this section to list the account number and the institution name for each account that should stop receiving deposits. If this is your first direct deposit, leave this section blank.3Altura Credit Union. Direct Deposit Change/Origination Request

Deposit Instructions

You have three ways to direct the money:3Altura Credit Union. Direct Deposit Change/Origination Request

  • Send the entire paycheck to checking by writing in your checking account number.
  • Send a fixed dollar amount to savings and the rest to checking by filling in both the dollar figure and the savings account number.
  • Send a fixed amount to savings and the remainder to a checking account by completing both account lines.

Authorization and Signature

Sign and date the bottom. Your signature authorizes your employer to initiate the transfers and Altura to credit the deposits. The authorization stays in effect until you submit a written change or cancellation.3Altura Credit Union. Direct Deposit Change/Origination Request

Routing and Account Numbers

Altura’s routing number is 322281235, printed on the form itself and on the Payroll Direct Deposit page.1Altura Credit Union. Payroll Direct Deposit It is the same for every Altura member. If a different number turns up through a search engine, use the one from Altura directly.4Altura Credit Union. What Information Is Needed for a Wire Transfer

Your account number is the second group of digits along the bottom of an Altura personal check, and it also appears inside Altura’s online and mobile banking.5Altura Credit Union. Do You Need a Voided Check?

Some employers still want a voided check attached, because it gives them a verified printed version of your routing and account numbers. Altura’s form already carries those numbers, so a voided check is not always required. If your employer asks for one, write “VOID” in large letters across a blank check and attach it. If you do not have checks, your employer’s payroll department can typically accept routing and account numbers pulled from online or mobile banking instead.6Nacha. Direct Deposit Without a Voided Check? Absolutely!

Submitting the Form

Give the signed form to your payroll administrator or HR contact. Some employers accept it through a self-service payroll portal, which tends to reduce data-entry mistakes. Check whether your employer’s payroll dashboard asks you to confirm the new arrangement on your end; skipping that step can push the start date out another pay period.

If your employer insists on using their own direct deposit form, that works too. Fill in Altura’s routing number, 322281235, and your Altura account number on their paperwork; the information is the same.1Altura Credit Union. Payroll Direct Deposit

When the First Deposit Will Arrive

Expect one to two full pay cycles before your first electronic deposit lands. Some payroll systems first send a zero-dollar test transaction to confirm the numbers are valid, which runs in the background and will not appear in your account history. If the test fails because of a wrong digit, payroll should reach out to correct it.

Once deposits go live, your pay posts as an ACH credit in your Altura transaction history. Altura may credit the funds up to two days before your official payday if the deposit file arrives early from your employer’s payroll provider.1Altura Credit Union. Payroll Direct Deposit There is nothing separate to apply for; early posting depends entirely on when the file comes in, which is why one pay period can arrive early and the next right on time.

If a Deposit Is Missing or Late

Most delays trace to one of a few causes:

  • Weekends and federal holidays. The ACH network does not settle on those days, so a Saturday or holiday payday usually posts the next business day.
  • Late payroll submission by the employer.
  • A wrong digit in the routing or account number, which sends the money back to the originator.
  • A hold on a newly opened account or an account with recent overdrafts.

Contact your payroll department first, since the problem almost always originates on the employer’s side. If payroll confirms the batch was sent and the deposit is more than two business days late, call Altura at 888-883-7228 and ask them to check whether an incoming ACH credit was returned or is still pending.2Altura Credit Union. Changing or Canceling Later

Your authorization remains active until you submit a written change or cancellation.3Altura Credit Union. Direct Deposit Change/Origination Request To move the deposit to a different Altura account, fill out a fresh copy of the same form with the new account details and list the old account in the discontinuation section. Give the updated form to payroll.

If you are leaving Altura, give your employer the new institution’s routing and account numbers. Keep your Altura account open until at least one deposit has posted to the new account; closing too early can send a paycheck back to your employer and cost you a full pay cycle.
