There is no universal Anytime Fitness cancellation form you can download from the corporate website, because every club is independently owned and handles cancellations on its own paperwork. To cancel, you submit a written cancellation notice (on your club’s form if it has one, or a signed letter with the same information) directly to your home club, with the notice period your membership agreement requires. The corporate FAQ confirms that cancellation policies, fees, and procedures all live inside the agreement for your specific location.1Anytime Fitness. Frequently Asked Questions
Check Your Agreement Before You Submit Anything
Pull out your membership agreement first. Three details in it decide how your cancellation will go:
- Whether you’re still inside a fixed initial term (often 12 months) or have rolled over to month-to-month. Canceling during the initial term usually triggers an early termination fee; month-to-month cancellations usually don’t.
- The required notice period. Most clubs require at least 30 days’ written notice, and your membership stays billable through that window.
- The accepted delivery methods. Some clubs only accept in-person notice, some also accept certified mail, and a few accept email. Don’t assume.
If you can’t find your copy of the agreement, call your home club and ask for one. The Club Locator on the Anytime Fitness site lists each location’s phone number and street address.2Anytime Fitness. Contact Us
What to Put on the Cancellation Form
If your club provides a standardized cancellation form, use it. The fields map to what the billing processor needs, which removes ambiguity about what you’re requesting. If no form exists, write a short signed letter containing the same information:
- Your full legal name, exactly as it appears on the agreement
- Your membership ID number, printed on your key fob or in your account profile
- Your home club’s name and address
- The date of your original agreement
- A clear cancellation statement, such as: “I am providing written notice to cancel my membership effective [date].”
- The date and your signature
Keep the language direct. You don’t need to explain why you’re leaving. A verbal request at the front desk does not count as notice, and canceling the bank draft on your end does not end the contract — you’ll still owe the charges even if your bank stops paying them.
How to Deliver the Form
In Person at Your Home Club
Bring two copies during staffed hours. Ask the club manager to sign and date both, and keep one for yourself as proof of delivery. If a staff member refuses to accept it or asks you to come back, note the date, time, and the name of the person you spoke with.
Certified Mail With Return Receipt
Mail the form to the physical address of your home club, not corporate headquarters. There is no central mailing address for cancellations because each club is independently owned.2Anytime Fitness. Contact Us Request return receipt so you get a signed card showing the club received it, and keep the tracking number. The paper trail is hard to dispute if billing problems come up later.
Early Termination Fees
If you’re canceling before the end of your initial contract term, expect an early termination fee. The amount is set by the individual franchise, so there is no company-wide figure.1Anytime Fitness. Frequently Asked Questions Some clubs charge a flat buyout; others require you to pay out the remaining months at a reduced rate. Call your club and ask for the exact dollar amount before you submit the form so there are no surprises.
If you’ve already converted to month-to-month, early termination fees generally don’t apply. You will still owe for the notice period.
If You Just Signed Up
New members may have a short cooling-off window — typically three to ten business days depending on the state — during which you can cancel for a full refund with no termination fee. The clock starts on the signing date, not your first visit. Deliver written cancellation to the club inside that window. Once it closes, the standard process and any fees apply.
Military Orders
Active-duty servicemembers can cancel without an early termination fee under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, which specifically covers gym memberships and fitness programs. You must have signed the contract before receiving the orders, and the orders must relocate you for at least 90 days to a place the contract doesn’t support. Deliver written or electronic notice to the club with a copy of your orders. The provider cannot impose any early termination charge, but you still owe fees that were already due and unpaid when you cancel.3Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 50 USC 3956 – Termination of Certain Consumer Contracts Qualifying orders include deployment, permanent change of station, and National Guard or Reserve activation.
Consider a Freeze Before You Cancel
If the reason you want out is temporary — a medical issue, travel, a tight stretch financially — a freeze may fit better than cancellation, particularly if you’re still inside the initial term. A freeze pauses full monthly dues and replaces them with a smaller administrative fee while keeping the membership active. Freeze rules vary by location.1Anytime Fitness. Frequently Asked Questions Most clubs allow freezes of one to six months, and some waive the fee for documented medical reasons. Freezing typically extends your contract end date by the same number of months, so a three-month freeze pushes your commitment out three months. Ask your club about duration limits, the monthly freeze fee, and whether medical documentation qualifies for a waiver.
After You Submit
Expect at least one more charge. The 30-day notice window means a final monthly payment is normal, and it covers your access through the end of that period. If your club bills an annual enhancement fee and the billing date lands inside your notice window, that charge may also post. Ask the club upfront whether the annual fee is refundable or prorated when it hits during your final month; the answer depends on your agreement and location.
Watch your bank statements for at least two full billing cycles after your final scheduled payment. Billing for most Anytime Fitness clubs is run by ABC Fitness (also known as ABC Financial), reachable at 1-888-827-9262 or customercare@abcfitness.com.2Anytime Fitness. Contact Us If charges continue past what you agreed to, send ABC your proof of delivery — the signed copy from the club or the certified mail return receipt — to resolve it. If that doesn’t fix the billing, you can file a chargeback with your bank using the same proof, or complain to your state attorney general’s consumer protection division.
Hold on to three things together: your cancellation confirmation number if one was issued, your signed copy of the form or the certified mail receipt, and your final billing statement. Those documents are what you’ll need if a collection agency ever contacts you about an old balance.
