To submit a Penn Foster transcript request, go to the Student Record Locator at my.pennfoster.com/StudentLMSPFX/Transcript, let it find your student file, and then complete the order through Parchment, Penn Foster’s credential partner. The whole process runs online, whether you are a current student or finished the program years ago.1Penn Foster. Penn Foster Student Records and Transcript Requests
Where to Start
Every order begins at the Student Record Locator. You can reach it directly or by opening Penn Foster’s contact page and clicking “Student Record Locator” under “Transcript Requests.”2Penn Foster. Contact Penn Foster The tool searches Penn Foster’s database for your record using the identifying details you enter.
If the locator doesn’t find you on the first try, enter the address or phone number you used when you originally enrolled rather than your current contact information. The system sometimes matches on the older details on file.1Penn Foster. Penn Foster Student Records and Transcript Requests Once it locates your record, it hands you off to Parchment to fill out the actual request form. Current and former students both use this same path.
What Parchment Will Ask For
Parchment walks you through several screens in order. Having the details ready keeps you from backing out and restarting.
- Your identifying information, under the legal name tied to your Penn Foster enrollment, so the registrar can match the request to your academic file.
- The recipient’s name and address — a college registrar, an employer’s HR office, or you. Check spelling and the email or mailing address carefully; a wrong character can misdirect the document.
- Delivery method: eTranscript or mailed paper copy.
- The Penn Foster program the transcript covers. If you completed more than one program, each transcript is a separate order.
- Your electronic signature of consent. FERPA requires your authorization before the school releases records to a third party, and Parchment collects that consent on each order rather than as a blanket release.3Parchment. K12, FERPA, and Parchment Compliance – What You Need to Know
- Payment for the processing fee. You get a review screen before the order is placed.1Penn Foster. Penn Foster Student Records and Transcript Requests
Save the confirmation page or take a screenshot after you submit. Parchment sends email updates on order status, but your own copy of the order details gives you something to point to if you need to follow up.
Delivery Choices and Fees
You can pick an eTranscript, delivered as a secure digital file, or a printed transcript sent by mail. Fees differ by method.1Penn Foster. Penn Foster Student Records and Transcript Requests Penn Foster describes the paper transcript cost as “a small fee” but does not publish a specific dollar amount; you see the exact price at Parchment checkout before you pay.4Penn Foster. Official transcripts carry a fee whether you send one to yourself or to another school.1Penn Foster. Penn Foster Student Records and Transcript Requests Penn Foster’s student records page doesn’t mention a free unofficial download, so plan on paying for any official copy.
How Long It Takes
Penn Foster does not publish a guaranteed turnaround for individual Parchment orders. The timing depends on the delivery method you chose and how quickly the registrar’s office approves the release. If a deadline is tight — a college application closing in a week, for example — order as early as you can and choose the eTranscript to cut out mail transit. Parchment’s email notifications will track the order through each stage.
One narrower case has a published window. Students completing a program through a Penn Foster organizational partner get an official digital transcript emailed to the partner’s designated contact within 10 business days of program completion, at no charge.4Penn Foster. Penn Foster Program Completion and Transcript Documents FAQs That automatic delivery goes to the partner, not to you. If you need your own copy, or a copy sent to a different school, you still place a Parchment order.
If the Record Locator Can’t Find You
This is the most common sticking point, and it hits people who enrolled years ago hardest. The locator matches on the contact information you gave at enrollment. Try an old address, a former phone number, or a previous last name before giving up. If nothing works, call Penn Foster at 1-888-427-1500, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET, and ask a Learner Success Advocate to pull your record manually.1Penn Foster. Penn Foster Student Records and Transcript Requests Have your name, approximate enrollment dates, and any old contact details handy; they speed up the lookup.
Current students can also log into the Learner Center at pennfostergroup.com to live-chat or message support. The phone line is the main option for former students without portal access.2Penn Foster. Contact Penn Foster
When Someone Else Needs Your Transcript
Employers, background-check companies, government agencies, and schools verifying your credentials can order through Parchment’s Third Party Ordering portal at exchange.parchment.com, linked from Penn Foster’s contact page.2Penn Foster. Contact Penn Foster You don’t have to place that order yourself. FERPA still governs the release, so the school cannot hand over records to a third party without proper consent unless a specific exception applies, such as a lawful subpoena or certain audits.5Student Privacy Policy Office. FERPA – 34 CFR Part 99 – Family Educational Rights and Privacy In most employment-verification cases, the portal prompts the requester for whatever authorization Parchment needs before processing.
