What You Can Request

The dropdown menu on the form covers each privacy right TextNow recognizes. Pick the one that matches what you actually want to happen:

  • Information — a list of the categories of personal data TextNow collected, where it came from, why it was collected, and which third parties received it.
  • Access — a copy of the actual personal information TextNow holds on you, in a portable format.
  • Correction — a fix for inaccurate records.
  • Deletion — permanent removal of the personal information TextNow collected from you.
  • Opt-out of sale or sharing — a direction to stop sending your data to third parties for their own purposes.
  • Opt-out of targeted advertising — a stop on using your data for tracking-based ads.
  • Limit sensitive data processing — a restriction on how sensitive data is used beyond delivering the core service.
  • Appeal — a challenge to a previous denial of any of the above.

These rights sit under the “Your choices” section of TextNow’s Privacy Policy.2TextNow. Privacy Policy California residents have all of them under the California Consumer Privacy Act,3State of California – Department of Justice – Office of the Attorney General. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and residents of other states with consumer privacy laws (including Colorado and Texas) have overlapping protections. The form routes your request based on where you live, so you don’t need to work out which law applies.

Submitting the Form Online

Before you start, confirm the email address tied to your TextNow account. If you aren’t logged in through a browser, the form page will prompt you to sign in first.4TextNow Support. Deleting Your TextNow Account and Data

  1. Open the Data Rights Request Form while logged in.
  2. Click the dropdown under “Create a new request” and choose the request type (for example, “Request Account and Data Deletion”).
  3. Check that the email on the form matches the one registered to your account. A mismatch blocks the request, so update your account email first if they don’t line up.
  4. Click the confirmation button. For deletion, it reads “Delete My Account.”

A deletion submission logs you out immediately and renders the account unusable.4TextNow Support. Deleting Your TextNow Account and Data Your TextNow number, call history, and messages disappear from your end right away, so export anything you want to keep before you confirm.

If You Can’t Use the Form

Already locked out, or can’t get the browser login to work? Call TextNow toll-free at 1-855-678-5488 or email privacy@textnow.com.2TextNow. Privacy Policy Send email from the address associated with your account, since that’s how TextNow starts verifying you. In the message, state which type of request you’re making and include your TextNow phone number so the team can find your records.

How TextNow Verifies You

TextNow has to confirm you’re the account holder before releasing or destroying personal data. For online submissions, logging in and confirming the registered email handles the first layer of verification. For email requests, sending from the address on file does the same job.2TextNow. Privacy Policy

TextNow may follow up for more information depending on what you’re asking for, and may also confirm your state of residency because that determines which rights apply. If verification fails, the company will tell you what else it needs, and it won’t move on the request until that’s resolved.2TextNow. Privacy Policy

Filing on someone else’s behalf as an authorized agent is harder. Under the CCPA, a business can require signed permission from the consumer and may also ask that consumer to verify their identity directly, even when an agent submitted the request.3State of California – Department of Justice – Office of the Attorney General. When to Expect a Response

If you’re a California resident, the CCPA gives TextNow 45 days from the date it receives a verifiable request. The company can extend by another 45 days when a request is unusually complex or volume is high, but it must notify you of the extension and the reason within the original 45-day window.5California Privacy Protection Agency. California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018

If you’re covered by the GDPR (generally European Economic Area residents), the baseline is one month, extendable by up to two more months for complex requests, with notice to you before the first month runs out.6Data Protection Commission. How Long Does an Organisation Have to Respond to My Access Request

Straightforward deletion requests often finish faster than those statutory ceilings, sometimes within a few days, because the form automates most of the workflow. Access and information requests tend to run longer since TextNow has to pull data from several internal systems.

What Deletion Actually Removes

A deletion request doesn’t erase every record. TextNow’s Privacy Policy says it may retain personal information for “legal, tax, insurance, accounting, and other regulatory purposes” after you ask for deletion.2TextNow. Privacy Policy The CCPA allows parallel exceptions for legal compliance, fraud detection, security, and certain internal uses.3State of California – Department of Justice – Office of the Attorney General. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

The Privacy Policy doesn’t itemize which specific data categories survive deletion under those exceptions. If you want to know exactly what TextNow kept after your deletion was processed, submit a follow-up information or access request.
