How to Fill Out and Submit the TMCC Permission to Enroll Form

The TMCC Permission to Enroll form is the semester-by-semester authorization that lets a high school student register for Truckee Meadows Community College classes through the Jump Start dual credit program. You complete it with your 10-digit NSHE student ID, your course list, and signatures from you, a parent or legal guardian, and your high school counselor or administrator. A new form is required every semester, even if you’ve enrolled through Jump Start before.1Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start – Steps to Enroll

Who the Form Is For

Any student in grades 9 through 12 at a traditional high school, a charter school, or a homeschool setting can use the form, as long as they have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Students below high school level are not eligible for dual credit. If you’re under 18, written permission from a parent or legal guardian is required, and the form itself requires a parent or guardian signature regardless of your age.2Truckee Meadows Community College. Finish These Two Steps First

The Permission to Enroll form is the third step in Jump Start enrollment. If you skip the two that come before it, your form can’t be processed.

  • Submit the TMCC Application for Admission online. Once it’s processed, you’ll receive your 10-digit NSHE student ID in your admission letter. That number identifies you across every Nevada public college and university, and the Permission to Enroll form asks for it.4Truckee Meadows Community College. Frequently Asked Questions – Admissions and Records
  • Complete the Jump Start Orientation in Canvas using your TMCC username and password. The orientation walks through the responsibilities of taking college courses as a high school student.1Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start – Steps to Enroll

Lost your student ID or stuck on login? Call New Student Services at 775-673-7111 or use the self-service tools at selfservice.tmcc.edu.1Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start – Steps to Enroll

Returning Jump Start students skip both of these. You don’t reapply and you don’t redo orientation — just a fresh Permission to Enroll form each semester, followed by payment.1Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start – Steps to Enroll

What to Have in Front of You Before You Start

Incomplete forms are not processed, so collect everything before you open the form.5Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start’s Permission to Enroll

  • Your 10-digit TMCC student ID (NSHE ID). This is not your high school ID.
  • Your parent or legal guardian’s first and last name, phone number, and email address. They’ll also need to sign.
  • Your high school counselor or administrator’s first name, last name, email, and phone number.
  • For each class you plan to take: the 5-digit class number, class title, number of credits, date and time, and the semester and year. Look these up in the TMCC online class schedule or in MyTMCC.
  • Prerequisite documentation if any of your courses require it — ACT scores, SAT scores, AP scores, or high school transcripts.
  • If you’re homeschooled, a completed Notice of Intent to Home School form that has been filed with the school district where you live.

Filling Out the Form

TMCC offers an online version and a downloadable PDF. The online version is the primary route: you complete it with your NSHE ID and it routes automatically to your counselor for electronic approval. The PDF is a backup for situations where the online form won’t work.5Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start’s Permission to Enroll

Student Information

Enter your NSHE ID, date of birth, full legal name with middle initial, phone number, email address, and mailing address. Use the exact name you put on your TMCC admission application. A mismatch between the form and your admission record will delay processing.5Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start’s Permission to Enroll

Parent or Legal Guardian

Fill in your parent or guardian’s first and last name, phone number, and email address. Their signature is required regardless of your age.3Truckee Meadows Community College. Permission to Enroll: High School Students

Class Information

For each course, enter the 5-digit class number, the class title, and the credit count. Indicate whether you’re taking the course for dual credit, and note the semester and year. The “Notes” column is for TMCC staff only; leave it blank. If a course has prerequisites, attach the documentation to the form or send it with your submission.3Truckee Meadows Community College. High School Information

Enter your high school name, grade level, high school ID number, and GPA. If you’re homeschooled, mark “Yes” in the homeschool field and record your grade level, and remember to attach your Notice of Intent to Home School form.3Truckee Meadows Community College. Signatures

Three signatures are required for a traditional high school student: yours, your parent or legal guardian’s, and your high school counselor or administrator’s. Homeschooled students at the sophomore level or below also need a signature from TMCC’s Access, Outreach and Recruitment office. The counselor section includes space for their printed name, title, high school name, email, phone, date, and an option to authorize you to make schedule changes without submitting a new form.3Truckee Meadows Community College. By signing, you confirm you’ve completed the admission application, attached required documentation, and agree to meet with your high school counselor each semester to keep your TMCC courses aligned with your graduation requirements.

Submitting the Form

If you use the online form, it goes to your counselor automatically for electronic approval once you finish it, which is why you need their email address.5Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start’s Permission to Enroll

If you use the PDF, get your counselor’s signature first, then submit the signed form in person or by email to dualcredit@tmcc.edu. Do not send it to the general admissions address; the dual credit program handles these separately. Forms missing a signature or required information will not be processed.3Truckee Meadows Community College. Permission to Enroll: High School Students

After You Submit

Once your counselor has approved the form, TMCC staff process it within three to five business days. You’ll receive a confirmation at your TMCC student email, which ends in @mail.tmcc.edu.5Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start’s Permission to Enroll

TMCC can’t enroll you in classes that are already full, so submit early during peak registration windows. Schedule changes after submission must reach TMCC at least three to five days before the applicable add/drop deadline. Significant changes to your course list may require a new Permission to Enroll form or an email authorization from your counselor.5Truckee Meadows Community College. After you’re enrolled, log in to MyTMCC and pay for your classes. Enrollment isn’t complete until tuition is paid.1Truckee Meadows Community College. Jump Start – Steps to Enroll

Homeschool Specifics

Homeschooled students follow the same process with two additions. First, you must provide a completed Notice of Intent to Home School form filed with the school district where you reside; contact the Jump Start office for how to submit it. Second, on the form itself, mark “Yes” in the homeschool field and enter your grade level. Because you don’t have a traditional school counselor, the signature line works differently: homeschooled students at the sophomore level or below need an additional signature from TMCC’s Access, Outreach and Recruitment office.3Truckee Meadows Community College.
