To cancel a Toyota Vehicle Service Agreement, you fill out a Toyota extended warranty cancellation form obtained from your selling dealership or from Toyota Extra Care at (800) 228-8559, enter your VIN, agreement number, VSA purchase date, and current odometer reading, sign and date it as the registered owner, and either return it to the dealership’s finance office or mail it to Toyota Financial Services in Tempe, Arizona. Cancel within 30 days with no claims filed and you get a full refund minus a $50 processing fee; after that, the refund is prorated.1Toyota Financial. What To Have Ready Before You Start
The form is short, and most of filling it out is transferring numbers from paperwork you already have. Pull these together first so the request doesn’t stall:
- Your Vehicle Identification Number — the 17-character code at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side, also printed on your registration and insurance card.
- Your VSA agreement number, found on the declarations page of the service agreement or on the original sales contract from the dealership’s finance office.
- The original VSA purchase date. This is what determines whether you’re still inside the 30-day full-refund window.
- The current odometer reading, taken from the dashboard on the day you sign the form. The prorated refund calculation uses this number, so a guess or an old service-receipt figure can cost you money.
If you’re canceling because you sold or traded the vehicle, keep the bill of sale or trade-in paperwork within reach. The dealership or Toyota Financial Services may ask for it.
Where To Get the Form
Toyota Financial Services directs VSA holders to the selling dealership for cancellation. Walk into the finance and insurance office, ask for the cancellation form, and in most cases they’ll hand it over and walk you through the fields on the spot.2Toyota Financial. Vehicle Service Agreements
Toyota Motor Insurance Services also runs an online cancellation portal at tmisvpp.com for the add-on products it administers, which may let you start the request electronically depending on your agreement. If a different entity administers your VSA, your declarations page will name it, and the process may differ slightly.

How To Fill It Out
Enter the VIN, agreement number, VSA purchase date, and current odometer reading into the fields provided. Check the odometer figure against your actual dashboard reading on the day you sign. That number directly affects how much of the contract counts as “used” for refund purposes.
Select a reason for cancellation: sold the vehicle, traded it in, or a personal choice to drop the coverage. The reason helps the administrator categorize the request and flag whether supporting documents like a bill of sale are needed.
The registered vehicle owner must sign and date the form. The date you write typically becomes the effective cancellation date, though some contracts use the date the administrator receives the form. Don’t backdate it. Write the actual day you sign.
How To Submit It
You have two routes. Hand the signed form to the finance manager at the dealership that sold you the VSA and let them forward it to Toyota Financial Services, or mail it to TFS yourself. The dealership route is faster when they move promptly. Mailing it direct cuts out the middleman if the dealer is slow or tries to talk you out of canceling.
To mail it, send the form to the TFS correspondence address:

Use certified mail with a return receipt. That receipt is your proof of the date TFS received the form, which matters if there’s any question about whether you canceled inside the 30-day window or at what mileage. Keep a photocopy of the completed form for your records.
What Refund To Expect
Timing drives everything. Cancel within 30 days of the VSA purchase date with no claims filed on the contract, and you get the full VSA price back minus a $50 processing fee. Some states cap or prohibit that fee, so the deduction may be smaller depending on where you live.1Toyota Financial. Is a Toyota Vehicle Service Agreement (VSA) the Same as a Manufacturer’s Basic Warranty? File a claim within those 30 days and you lose the full-refund option; the refund gets prorated instead.
After 30 days, or if any claims have been paid, Toyota prorates the refund based on elapsed time or mileage from the date coverage began, whichever method produces the smaller refund. The $50 processing fee still comes off.2Toyota Financial. Vehicle Service Agreements State law can modify the 30-day window, so if you’re close to the cutoff, ask the dealer about your state’s rule.
Who gets the money depends on your loan. If you still owe on the vehicle through Toyota Financial Services, a bank, or a credit union, the refund goes to the lienholder and reduces your loan principal. You won’t see a check. Your balance simply drops. If you paid cash or already paid off the loan, the refund check comes to you, made out to the name on the service contract.
Toyota doesn’t publish a guaranteed turnaround for processing. If your state sets a specific deadline for refund processing, the administrator has to meet it, and that’s a point worth raising if weeks pass without any update.
Consider Transferring Instead if You Sold the Car
If the reason for cancellation is a private sale, a transfer may put more money in your pocket than a prorated refund. Toyota allows one transfer per agreement, at no cost, from the original owner to a private-party buyer. Dealers can’t receive a transferred VSA.2Toyota Financial. Vehicle Service Agreements
A remaining VSA gives the buyer mechanical breakdown protection they’d otherwise pay for separately, which can support a higher asking price. If substantial coverage is left on the contract, run the numbers both ways before you file the cancellation. The transfer process starts the same way as a cancellation: through the dealer or by calling Toyota Extra Care at (800) 228-8559.3Toyota Financial. Contact Us
Where Cancellations Commonly Stall
Dealership resistance is the most frequent complaint. The finance office earned a commission when you bought the VSA, and some dealers will delay the paperwork, say they need to look into it, or push back on your decision. You don’t owe them an explanation. If they drag, mail the form yourself to the Tempe address and follow up by phone.
Mileage mismatches also slow things down. If the odometer reading on the form doesn’t line up with the signature date, TFS may hold the request or apply a less favorable proration. Read the dashboard the same day you sign.
Finally, count the 30 days from the VSA purchase date, not from when you first drove the car home. The two dates are usually the same, but not always, especially if the agreement was added after the initial sale. Missing the window by a day moves you from a near-full refund to prorated territory, and on a multi-year contract that gap can be significant.
