The Travelers EFT Authorization Form is a one-page document you complete to let Travelers pull your insurance premium automatically from your checking or savings account each billing cycle. You fill in your policy number, banking details, and preferred withdrawal date, sign it, and return it to Travelers. Once the company confirms the setup, premiums come out of your account on the schedule you chose.
Where to Get the Form
If you have a MyTravelers account, log in and enroll in AutoPay directly through the billing section of the portal.1Travelers Insurance. Pay Your Bill Your insurance agent can also send you the form, and claim professionals sometimes provide it when a claimant wants a settlement deposited electronically instead of mailed.
To request the form by phone, personal policyholders can call 1-888-564-5043, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Business policyholders should call 1-800-252-2268, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.2Travelers. Contact Us
What to Put on the Form
Every field matters. A single wrong digit in a routing or account number can misdirect a payment or cause it to bounce. Work from a voided check or a recent bank statement so the numbers are in front of you.
- Name and address, written exactly as they appear on your Travelers policy. The name should also match the name on the bank account you are authorizing.
- Policy number. The form has room for more than one, so you can route several Travelers policies through the same account.
- Payment frequency: monthly withdrawals or a single annual pay-in-full deduction.3Travelers EFT Authorization Form. Travelers EFT Authorization Form
- Day of the month for the withdrawal. Any date from the 1st through the 28th works. Pick a day that falls a day or two after your regular payday so the funds are reliably there.
- Account type. Check the box for checking or savings.
- Bank routing number. This is the nine-digit number at the bottom-left of a check or listed on your bank’s website.
- Bank account number. On a check, this sits just to the right of the routing number. Verify it against a bank statement before writing it down.
- Signature and date. Whoever signs must be authorized to sign on the bank account being used.3Travelers EFT Authorization Form. Travelers EFT Authorization Form
How to Submit It
Once the form is signed, you can upload it through the Travelers customer portal, fax it to the number printed on the form, or mail the hard copy to the address your agent or claim professional provides. Uploading through the portal is usually the fastest.
Here is where people get into trouble: keep paying your premium the old way until Travelers sends you a confirmation notice. The form itself tells you to continue manual payments until that notice arrives, and skipping that step is the quickest way to end up with a lapse in coverage.3Travelers EFT Authorization Form. What You Receive After Submission
After Travelers processes your signed form, the company mails a notice with a schedule of your upcoming deductions, listing the exact amounts and the dates each payment will be pulled.3Travelers EFT Authorization Form. Make sure the account has funds on each scheduled date. A returned payment can trigger bank fees, and if the premium stays unpaid long enough, Travelers can cancel your policy. A calendar reminder a day or two before the withdrawal is a simple safeguard.
Changing Banks or Stopping Payments Later
If you switch banks or want payments drawn from a different account, submit a new EFT Authorization Form with the updated information. The new form overrides the old one. Send it in with enough lead time that the change is in place before the next scheduled debit.
You can also cancel the automatic withdrawal entirely, but canceling AutoPay does not cancel the policy or wipe out what you owe. You still have to pay premiums another way, or coverage will lapse. Under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, you can notify your bank orally or in writing at least three business days before the scheduled withdrawal date, and the bank must stop that payment.4Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1693e – Preauthorized Transfers If you call rather than write, the bank may ask for written confirmation within 14 days; without that follow-up, the stop-payment order expires.5eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers Call Travelers as well, so a missed withdrawal is not treated as nonpayment.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Attach a voided check if you can. Even when Travelers does not require one, it reduces the chance of a typo derailing the setup.
- Do not stop manual payments on your own timetable. Wait for the deduction schedule notice before switching off your usual payment method.
- Keep names consistent across the policy, the bank account, and the form. Mismatches can delay processing or get the form rejected.
- Pick a withdrawal date your account can reliably support. Returned payments create problems on both ends.
- Hold on to the signed form, the deduction schedule notice, and any confirmation emails. If a dispute surfaces later, these are your proof of what was agreed.
