You submit the WWE application form online at recruit.wwe.com by completing a free questionnaire and uploading photos, a short video, and your athletic credentials for review by the company’s talent scouts.1WWE. TRYOUT | Recruit Portal Applications are accepted year-round in English, no prior wrestling experience is required, and if your profile interests the scouting team you can expect a tryout invitation roughly four to six weeks before the date.2WWE. Decide Whether You Should Apply
WWE recruits athletes from the NFL, mixed martial arts, Olympic and collegiate athletics, the military, bodybuilding, gymnastics, and other physically demanding disciplines.2WWE. Home Page | Recruit Portal – WWE The company can teach wrestling. It cannot teach the athleticism, physical presence, and competitive instincts that come from years of serious sport, which is why many successful signees had no wrestling background at all before entering the system.
The bar is still high. Scouts are screening for people who have genuinely competed at an elite level in something: collegiate All-Americans, professional football players, Olympic-caliber lifters, trained martial artists. If your athletic resume is mostly recreational, your application is unlikely to stand out, and the time is better spent building the resume first.
What the Application Asks For
The questionnaire sits behind the “Apply Now” button on recruit.wwe.com. Fields that are not marked required are optional, so put your energy into the mandatory ones.2WWE. Home Page | Recruit Portal – WWE The exact form shifts as WWE updates the portal, but applications of this type generally ask for the following.
Personal details. Name, contact information, date of birth, and location. Use an email address and phone number you actually check, because that is how scouts will reach you.
Physical measurements. Height and weight, reported accurately. Scouts will notice at a tryout if you show up two inches shorter than your application claimed, and the credibility damage is permanent.
Athletic history. Specific sports, teams, leagues, and accomplishments. This is the core of the application. List concrete credentials such as conference championships, draft combine numbers, tournament placements, service records. Vague summaries lose to specifics every time.
Social media handles. WWE cares about audience-building. Active accounts on Instagram, X, TikTok, or YouTube with real engagement help; an empty social presence will not necessarily disqualify you.
Photographs. A clear headshot and a full-body athletic photo showing your current physical condition. Recent, unfiltered, well lit. Professional shots are ideal, but a sharp image taken by a friend against a clean background is fine.
Video submission. After your athletic resume, this is the most important thing you submit. Keep it short, around two to three minutes, so a busy scouting team can actually watch it.
There is no fee to apply.2WWE. Home Page | Recruit Portal – WWE You will still spend time and possibly money on good photos and video. A blurry phone clip shot in a dim garage tells the scouting team everything it needs to know about how seriously you took this.
How to Put the Video Together
Scouts review enormous volumes of submissions. The first fifteen seconds carry more weight than anything else in the video. Open with energy: state your name, where you’re from, and your athletic background in a way that sounds like you, not like a script you memorized ten minutes ago.
Then show what your body can do. Former football players should include explosive drills or game highlights. Gymnasts should show tumbling. Martial artists should show striking combinations or grappling exchanges. The point is to prove your movement translates to a ring: power, agility, coordination, and physicality that reads on camera.
Talking matters just as much. Professional wrestling is a performance art built on character and verbal delivery. A thirty-second promo, spoken directly into the camera with conviction, can push an otherwise average application to the top of the pile, because most applicants have never practiced talking to a camera and it shows the second they try.
Submitting and What Happens Next
Once every required field is complete and your media is uploaded, submit through the portal. You should receive an automated confirmation. Your profile then enters an active database that scouts and coaches review on an ongoing basis.
Domestic and international tryouts run throughout the year, so there is no deadline or application window to beat.1WWE. TRYOUT | Recruit Portal The trade-off for rolling admissions is unpredictable response times. You may hear back in weeks, in months, or not at all. Current roster needs, application volume, and how closely your profile matches what scouts are looking for all affect the timeline. Silence is not the same as rejection; profiles can sit for a long time before a scout circles back.
If the team sees something, they will contact you using the information on your form. Keep that email and phone number live.
If You Get Invited to a Tryout
Successful applicants are invited to a multi-day evaluation at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, usually with four to six weeks’ notice.1WWE. TRYOUT | Recruit Portal Evaluations typically mix physical testing, in-ring basics, and character exercises: conditioning drills, strength assessments, running the ropes, taking bumps, basic holds. Coaches also watch how you carry yourself, how you take instruction, and whether your personality projects. The tryout is as much a personality audition as a physical one.
Plan to cover your own travel. Airfare, hotel near the Performance Center, ground transportation, and meals are generally your responsibility unless the invitation says otherwise in plain language. WWE sometimes covers costs for high-priority prospects already deep in talks with the talent team, but for first-time invitees the tryout is self-funded. International applicants should also budget for visa fees and travel insurance.
If an Offer Follows
Athletes who impress may be offered a developmental contract to train and perform under the WWE NXT brand at the Performance Center. A few things to know before that conversation. WWE talent are classified as independent contractors rather than employees, which means you handle your own taxes, health insurance, and certain travel costs, though WWE does offer a wellness program. Entry-level NXT contracts include a guaranteed base, often called a downside guarantee, that sets the minimum you earn regardless of dates worked. Starting figures are meaningfully below main-roster pay.
International athletes without existing U.S. work authorization will need an appropriate visa before any paid work begins; which category applies depends on your circumstances and the contract. The federal I-9 process verifies identity and work authorization for all new hires, and employers cannot demand a specific document or ask about your immigration status during that step.3U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification4U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Instructions for Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification None of this comes up at the application stage; it is a bridge for after a contract is on the table.
Have an attorney or agent review any contract before you sign. Independent contractor agreements in entertainment often contain non-compete clauses, intellectual property provisions, and exclusivity terms that can significantly limit your options if things do not work out. Legal review at this stage is the single most important step between a tryout and a career.
