Crunch Fitness does not publish a single downloadable cancellation form. To cancel, you submit a request to your home club through the Member Portal, in person, by phone, by mail, or by email, and the cancellation is not complete until the club sends you written confirmation.1Crunch Fitness. FAQs Because Crunch runs a mix of corporate and franchise locations, the accepted methods and the required notice period vary by club and by the agreement you signed.
How to Submit Your Cancellation Request
Four paths are available, though not every location supports every one:
- Sign in to the online Member Portal and open Manage Membership. If your club supports online cancellation, the option appears there. If it doesn’t, use another method.
- Call or visit your home club directly. The phone number is on the Crunch locations page. Ask for written or emailed confirmation before you leave or hang up.
- Mail a signed, dated cancellation letter to Crunch, LLC, PO Box 481, Elmsford, NY 10523. The membership agreement specifies first-class mail; certified mail with return receipt costs a little more and gives you a delivery timestamp if there’s a dispute later.
- Some agreements allow email cancellation sent from the address on file with your club. The address listed in Crunch’s membership terms is crunchms@crunch.com.
Whichever route you take, keep proof. Save the confirmation email, photograph a signed copy at the front desk, or hold the certified mail receipt. Crunch’s FAQ is direct: if you later claim you cancelled and nothing happened, you’ll be asked for proof of the original request.1Crunch Fitness. FAQs
What to Put in a Written Cancellation Request
Since there’s no standard form, a written request (mailed letter or email) should include everything the club needs to identify your account and act on it without follow-up:
- Your full name as it appears on the membership
- Your membership or account number, if you have it
- The home club location
- The address, phone number, and email on file
- A clear statement that you are cancelling your membership
- The date you want the cancellation to take effect
- Your signature and the date signed
- Supporting documents if you’re claiming a fee-free exit (see below)
Send it from the email address on file if you’re using email, and ask for written confirmation of receipt and effective date.
Notice Period and Your Last Charge
There is no single notice period that applies at every Crunch location. The days of notice required before your next billing date depend on the agreement you signed, so check the contract or ask the front desk.1Crunch Fitness. FAQs Some clubs require 10 or 15 days; others differ.
Crunch Signature locations work differently because you paid your last month’s dues at enrollment. No matter when you cancel, access runs through the end of the following month. Cancel any time in January, for example, and the membership ends on the last day of February.1Crunch Fitness. FAQs You already prepaid that final month, so no extra charge should hit after cancellation, and there’s no refund for the unused portion of the current month.
Watch your bank or card statements for at least two billing cycles after the effective date. If charges keep coming, send your confirmation to the home club first. If that fails, your bank can process a chargeback or stop payment on future drafts.
If You’re in an Annual Commitment
Month-to-month members can cancel any time by giving the required notice, with no buyout fee.2Crunch Fitness. Is A Month-to-Month Gym Membership Right for You? An annual commitment locks you in for 12 months, and cancelling before the term ends usually means paying an early termination or buyout fee. The amount isn’t published on Crunch’s national site; check your agreement for language about “buyout” or “early termination,” or ask the club. Once the initial term has ended and your membership has rolled into month-to-month billing, that fee no longer applies.
Cancelling Without an Early Termination Fee
Most Crunch agreements let you exit a fixed term without penalty in specific situations. Include documentation with your written request.
You Moved
Move more than 25 miles from your home club with no comparable Crunch nearby to transfer to, and you’re released from future payments. You owe only for services received before the move, and any prepaid balance for unused services is refunded.3Crunch Fitness. Crunch CA Membership Terms and Agreement The agreement doesn’t list required documents, but a new lease, utility bill, or updated driver’s license strengthens your case if the club asks.
Medical Disability
A condition that physically prevents you from using the gym qualifies. The agreement requires written confirmation from a physician.3Crunch Fitness. Crunch CA Membership Terms and Agreement The note doesn’t have to say the condition is permanent; it just has to confirm that it prevents you from using the facilities. No further payments are required, and prepaid amounts for unused services are refunded.
Death of a Member
If a family member who held a Crunch membership dies, the estate or next of kin can cancel by sending or bringing a certified copy of the death certificate to the home club with the cancellation request. No early termination fee applies.
Active-Duty Military Orders
The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act lists gym memberships and fitness contracts as covered. If you receive military orders to relocate for 90 days or more to a location that doesn’t support the contract, and the membership was entered into before those orders, you can cancel by delivering a written or electronic notice with a copy of your orders, specifying the end date. No early termination fee can be charged. The protection also extends to a spouse or dependent accompanying the servicemember, and to families of servicemembers who die in service or suffer a catastrophic injury or illness.4Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 50 USC 3956 – Termination of Certain Consumer Contracts
Just Signed Up? Check Your State’s Cooling-Off Window
Many states require health clubs to allow a full-refund cancellation within a set number of days after signing, often three to five business days. Crunch’s FAQ acknowledges this, noting that cancellation within “the first few days” of membership is a valid reason for a refund, with the exact grace period set by state law.1Crunch Fitness. FAQs If you’re inside that window, submit your request quickly and get the confirmation in writing.
Freeze Instead of Cancel
If a break rather than a permanent exit is what you need, Crunch offers freezes, though the terms vary by location. Contact your home club or use the online contact form at crunch.com to ask about the freeze duration, any monthly freeze fee, and whether it extends your commitment term.1Crunch Fitness. FAQs A freeze pauses regular dues without requiring you to cancel and re-enroll later.
Don’t Just Stop Paying
Ignoring a membership doesn’t cancel it. Crunch’s FAQ warns that a balance keeps accruing until you formally request cancellation, and after a period of time the account goes to collections.1Crunch Fitness. FAQs Removing the card on file doesn’t stop the debt from building. Submit a request through one of the methods above, keep your proof, and follow up if you don’t receive confirmation within a few days.
