Monroe does not have a warranty claim form. To file a claim, you bring the failed part and your dated original sales receipt back to the authorized retailer where you bought it, and that retailer processes the replacement on behalf of DRiV, Monroe’s parent company.1Monroe Shocks & Struts. Monroe Warranty and Guarantee There is nothing to download, nothing to mail, and no online submission portal.
That shifts the work from paperwork to preparation. If you show up at the counter with the right items and know what Monroe will and won’t cover, the exchange is usually quick. If you’re missing the receipt or your situation falls into an excluded category, the claim stops there.
What to Bring to the Retailer
Monroe’s warranty terms require two things:
- The defective part itself
- Your dated original sales receipt
Without the receipt, the retailer has no way to confirm when you bought the product, which product line it belongs to, or whether you are the original purchaser, and the claim stalls immediately.2Monroe. Limited Lifetime Warranty
A few extras aren’t required but help the counter staff move faster:
- The part number from the original packaging or stamped on the unit, so the retailer can match it to the correct replacement
- A short description of the failure, such as leaking hydraulic fluid, excessive noise, or collapsed dampening
- Photos of visible damage like cracked bushings, corroded piston rods, or fluid streaks, especially if the part was hard to remove and you want a record of its condition
Where to Take the Claim
Take the part and receipt to the dealer or retailer where you originally purchased the product. Monroe routes all warranty claims through the original point of purchase, not through the manufacturer directly. You can locate authorized retailers using the “Where to Buy” tool on Monroe’s website.1Monroe Shocks & Struts. Monroe Warranty and Guarantee
The retailer inspects the part, confirms it shows signs of defect or wear-out rather than damage from misuse, and provides the replacement. DRiV’s obligation is limited to a comparable replacement product. The warranty has no cash value, and you won’t receive a refund, credit, or substitution from another brand.1Monroe Shocks & Struts. Installation costs are not covered under the Limited Lifetime or Limited 5-Year warranties. You paid for labor when the original part went in, and you pay for labor again when the replacement goes in. The Feel The Difference Guarantee is a separate satisfaction program with its own labor reimbursement rules; it is not a defect claim and runs on a 90-day or 1,000-mile window.1Monroe Shocks & Struts. What Can Void the Claim Before You Walk In
Both the lifetime and 5-year warranties are tied to the original purchaser and the vehicle where the parts were first installed. They don’t transfer if you sell the car or move the parts to a different vehicle. Only products bought from an authorized Monroe retailer qualify; DRiV says it will not honor claims on products from unauthorized sellers, including unauthorized online retailers.1Monroe Shocks & Struts. Coverage is voided entirely by any of the following:
- Commercial, fleet, or government vehicle use
- Racing or off-road use, including aftermarket modifications for racing, off-road, or powersports purposes
- Improper installation, or products that have been modified or altered
- Parts moved to a different vehicle from the one where they were originally installed
- Vehicle modifications outside the original equipment manufacturer’s specifications
Those exclusions are broad. A lifted truck with aftermarket suspension components falls outside OEM specifications even if the Monroe part itself was never touched. If your setup is unusual, call Monroe before driving to the retailer.1Monroe Shocks & Struts. Monroe Warranty and Guarantee
If the Original Retailer Is Gone
Monroe’s warranty terms specifically direct you to return the product “to the dealer or retailer from whom it was purchased.” The terms don’t say what to do if that retailer has closed, moved, or dropped the Monroe line, which can leave you stuck.
Call Monroe customer service at 1-800-325-8886, open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern.3Monroe Shocks & Struts. Contact Customer Service Explain that the original retailer is no longer available and ask whether another authorized dealer nearby can process the claim. Have your receipt and part number in hand before you dial.
If the Retailer Denies the Claim
Most denials come down to one of two things: missing documentation, or an excluded use. No dated receipt and the claim is effectively dead on arrival. Damage traced to vehicle modifications, commercial use, or improper installation gives the retailer grounds to refuse the replacement.
Monroe’s published warranty does not include a formal escalation process. If you believe the denial was wrong, meaning the part failed under normal conditions and you have the receipt to prove purchase, call customer service at 1-800-325-8886 and walk through the facts. A representative can sometimes mediate with the retailer or point you to another authorized location for a second look.
Keep the defective part until the claim is fully resolved. If you throw it out or let the retailer dispose of it before the replacement is in your hands, you lose the only physical evidence of the defect.
