JetBlue Flight Delay Compensation Form: Amounts and Refunds

JetBlue no longer uses a dedicated delay compensation form. If your flight was delayed three or more hours for a reason within JetBlue’s control, the airline deposits TrueBlue points into your account automatically, usually within 24 hours of the scheduled departure, and sends a confirmation notification.1JetBlue. Customer Service Plan The channel that replaces the old JetBlue flight delay compensation form is called “Share a Concern,” and you only need it in two situations: the automatic deposit didn’t happen when it should have, or you’re asking to be reimbursed for meals, a hotel, or ground transportation the airline didn’t cover at the airport.

When You Qualify for Compensation

JetBlue pays out only for controllable delays. Those are problems the airline can prevent or manage: mechanical issues, crew scheduling gaps, cabin cleaning backlogs, IT failures. Weather, air traffic control directives, airport-wide outages, and security incidents are classified as uncontrollable and do not trigger compensation under JetBlue’s policy.1JetBlue. The threshold is a departure delay of more than three hours past the scheduled time. Before you spend effort chasing a claim, open the JetBlue app or website and check the stated reason for the disruption. If the airline logged it as weather-related, no amount of follow-up through the contact form is likely to change the outcome unless you can show the real cause was mechanical or crew-related.

How Much JetBlue Pays

As of early 2026, JetBlue’s Customer Bill of Rights compensation comes as TrueBlue points rather than travel credits.2JetBlue. Flight Delays and Cancellations For flights within the United States (excluding routes to or from Canada and departures from Europe), the current schedule is:

  • Controllable delay of 3 or more hours past scheduled departure: 5,000 TrueBlue points
  • Controllable cancellation within 4 hours of scheduled departure: 5,000 TrueBlue points

Mosaic-status members may receive additional points on top of the base amount. The figures are flat and do not scale with ticket price or destination.1JetBlue. Customer Service Plan

One prerequisite catches a lot of passengers off guard. You must have a TrueBlue account linked to your reservation before the disruption occurs. If you booked without a TrueBlue number attached, the automatic system has nowhere to send the points. Signing up is free at JetBlue’s website, and the safest habit is to add your member number when you book.1JetBlue. Customer Service Plan

Flights to or from Canada are handled under the Canadian Air Passenger Protection Regulations, which require cash compensation in Canadian dollars scaled to the length of the arrival delay.3JetBlue. Canada Customer Rights Flights departing from Europe are similarly outside the TrueBlue points framework and fall under separate regulations, so the process for those routes differs from what’s described here.

Meals, Hotels, and Out-of-Pocket Costs

Points aren’t the whole picture. When a controllable delay causes an arrival delay of three hours or more, JetBlue issues a digital meal voucher to each ticketed passenger.1JetBlue. Customer Service Plan If the disruption strands you overnight away from home, JetBlue will book a room at a contracted hotel where availability allows, typically with complimentary ground transportation.

If no contracted hotel is available or the hotel doesn’t run a shuttle, JetBlue will reimburse reasonable overnight lodging and ground transportation costs, but you have to keep detailed receipts and submit them within 10 days of the expense.1JetBlue. Customer Service Plan That window is short and easy to miss while you’re focused on rebooking. Save every receipt the day you incur the cost. Hotels are not provided or reimbursed for uncontrollable events or for passengers who live locally.

Filling Out the Share a Concern Form

The form lives on JetBlue’s “Share a Concern” page inside the Contact Us section.4JetBlue. Share a Concern It asks for:

  • Your full name as it appears on the reservation
  • An email address where JetBlue can respond
  • A topic, selected from the dropdown, that best fits your issue
  • The six-character alphanumeric confirmation code from your itinerary or boarding pass (marked optional, but including it lets the agent pull your flight details immediately)
  • A comments field with a 1,500-character limit

Keep the comments factual. Include the flight number, the date, the scheduled and actual departure times, and the specific issue, such as “mechanical delay, gate agent confirmed controllable.” If you’re requesting reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, list the amounts and note that you have receipts available. Responses may take up to 10 days during high-volume periods.4JetBlue. Share a Concern

Your Federal Right to a Cash Refund

Separate from JetBlue’s voluntary compensation program, a federal rule in effect since late 2024 requires airlines to issue automatic cash refunds when a flight is canceled or significantly changed and the passenger declines alternative transportation. A “significant change” includes a departure or arrival time shifting by more than three hours on domestic flights or six hours on international flights.5U.S. Department of Transportation. Biden-Harris Administration Announces Final Rule Requiring Automatic Refunds for Airline Tickets

Refunds must be issued in your original form of payment, not vouchers or credits, within seven business days for credit card purchases and 20 calendar days for other payment methods. The refund covers the full ticket price including taxes and fees, minus any portion of the trip you already flew.5U.S. Department of Transportation. Biden-Harris Administration Announces Final Rule Requiring Automatic Refunds for Airline Tickets This is a cash-back right, not a points deposit, and it applies regardless of whether JetBlue also owes you Bill of Rights compensation. If your delay exceeded three hours and you chose not to fly, you’re entitled to a full refund on top of whatever points land in your TrueBlue account.

If JetBlue Denies or Ignores Your Claim

You can file a complaint with the DOT’s Office of Aviation Consumer Protection. The DOT asks that you give the airline a chance to resolve the issue first.6U.S. Department of Transportation. File a Consumer Complaint

Submit online at airconsumer.dot.gov with your full contact information and a complete description of the trip and the problem. The DOT forwards the complaint to JetBlue, which is required to acknowledge it within 30 days and send a written response within 60 days, with a copy back to the DOT.6U.S. Department of Transportation. File a Consumer Complaint The DOT doesn’t investigate every complaint, but it uses the data to run targeted compliance reviews, and an airline that draws enough complaints about a particular practice attracts regulatory attention. Airlines know this, which often produces a faster response than the same complaint would get sent directly.
