Kami Vision Charge: What It’s For, Cancelling, and Refunds

A Kami Vision charge on your card statement is the annual subscription fee for Kami Cloud, the video storage service that works with Kami Home and YI security cameras. The charge usually runs between $5 and $15.42 per month, billed as a lump sum once a year, and it’s tied to a three-day free trial that converts automatically. If you’re seeing it unexpectedly, the fastest path to stopping it is emailing support@kamihome.com (or canceling through Apple if you subscribed on an iPhone), and disputing the charge with your card issuer if the company doesn’t respond.

What You’re Actually Being Billed For

Kami Vision is a San Jose-based company that operates the Kami Home camera line and the Kami Cloud storage platform. It’s a sister brand to YI Technology, and the Better Business Bureau profile for YI lists Kami Vision as the entity that handles customer complaints.1BBB. YI Technology Customer Complaints

Kami Cloud has four tiers. Prices are advertised monthly but billed annually, upfront:

  • Entry: $5.00/month, $59.99/year — 7 days of history, one camera.
  • CVR (Continuous Video Recording): $8.08/month, $96.99/year.
  • Standard: $11.67/month, $139.99/year — 15 days, up to five cameras.
  • Plus: $15.42/month, $184.99/year — 30 days, up to five cameras.2Kami Home. Kami Cloud Subscription Plans

Every plan starts with a three-day free trial. When the trial ends, the full annual fee is charged. Under Kami Vision’s terms, if that charge is declined, the company resubmits it and keeps the account active for five days before cutting access.3Kami Vision. Terms and Conditions So the charge you’re looking at is almost always a full year’s worth, not a monthly bill.

How to Cancel the Subscription

Kami Vision’s terms of service direct subscribers to cancel by emailing support@kamihome.com. There is no termination fee. If you subscribed through an iPhone, Kami directs you to cancel through Apple’s subscription management instead, which is generally the more reliable route when it’s available.4Kami App. Managing Kami Subscriptions

Send the cancellation email from the address on the account, and keep the sent message and any reply. Ask for written confirmation that the subscription has been canceled and that auto-renewal is off. If a response arrives offering a discount, a service credit, or a free camera instead of a cancellation, reply and ask again, in writing, for the cancellation itself. Consumers have reported that retention offers often come back in place of a straight cancellation.5SafeWise. Why You Shouldn’t Buy YI or Kami Cameras in 2025

Getting a Refund

The terms of service say the company “shall not refund any unearned service charges following any termination.”3Kami Vision. Terms and Conditions The Kami help center is less absolute, saying refunds are available “if you have a valid reason,” and asking users to include their receipt or the last four digits and expiration date of the card charged.4Kami App. Managing Kami Subscriptions

In BBB complaints involving duplicate charges, Kami Vision has acknowledged the error and issued refunds, with a stated processing window of seven to ten business days.1BBB. If the Company Doesn’t Respond

The customer-service channel is unreliable. SafeWise researchers independently confirmed that YI and Kami customer-service phone numbers are offline and that an email to support@kamihome.com went unanswered. Consumers report waits of days for any reply, with some spending a full month trying to cancel.5SafeWise. If you don’t get a response in a reasonable time, dispute the charge with your bank or credit card issuer. The FTC’s guidance for unwanted subscription charges is to contact the company first, keep records of the attempt, and then file a dispute with the card issuer if billing continues. You can also report the charge to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov or to your state attorney general.7FTC. How To Stop Subscriptions You Never Ordered

California residents have an extra tool. Because Kami Vision is headquartered in California, the state’s Automatic Renewal Law applies. Amendments that took effect July 1, 2025 require businesses to obtain express affirmative consent for auto-renewal, allow cancellation through the same medium used to sign up, send annual reminders of the service and charges, give advance notice of fee changes, and refrain from obstructing or delaying cancellation.8California Office of the Attorney General. At the federal level, the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act requires clear disclosure, express informed consent before charging, and a simple way to stop recurring charges.9FTC. Why the Charge Keeps Catching People Off Guard

The pattern in consumer complaints is consistent. People try to cancel, believe they’ve succeeded, and get charged anyway. One consumer reported being billed $140 after canceling twice and receiving email confirmations both times. Others describe being prompted to pay $136 for an annual renewal despite having an active subscription, or finding that a $99 plan they already paid for stopped working because features had been moved behind an additional paywall.5SafeWise. Why You Shouldn’t Buy YI or Kami Cameras in 2025

Features that older owners remember as free have been fenced off. Motion-activated clips, access to footage stored on local microSD cards, and the live camera feed itself now sit behind the subscription or behind roughly 30-second ads.5SafeWise. Why You Shouldn’t Buy YI or Kami Cameras in 2025 Kami Vision has said the ads and subscription requirements fund cloud storage, app development, and security updates, and that once a subscription is canceled, any later reinstatement moves the account onto whatever plans and policies are then in effect, rather than restoring the old terms.1BBB. YI Technology Customer Complaints That last point matters if you’re thinking about pausing a plan: coming back later means coming back at today’s prices and today’s feature set.
