NAPLEX Score Transfer: 89-Day Deadline, Fees, and Process

A NAPLEX score transfer lets you send a passing exam result from NABP to additional state boards of pharmacy so you can pursue licensure in more than one state without retaking the exam. The fee is $105 per jurisdiction, and you have 89 days from your exam date to submit each request through your NABP e-Profile.1National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. NAPLEX Results Miss that window and your only NABP-facilitated route to another state becomes the Electronic Licensure Transfer Program, which costs considerably more.

The 89-Day Deadline

The 89-day clock starts on the date you sit for the exam, not the date your results post.2National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. How Do I Add a Score Transfer? Since scores take up to 14 business days to appear in your e-Profile, you can wait and see your result before purchasing transfers, but every day you wait is a day off the window.3National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. Where Do I Check My Examination Results?

Don’t push it to day 89. NABP warns that the option can become unavailable on the final day of the window, likely because of system processing cutoffs.1National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. NAPLEX Results Leave yourself a few days of cushion. Once the window closes, that NAPLEX score can never be transferred to a new jurisdiction.

You can also add states piecemeal. As long as you are still within the 89 days, each additional jurisdiction is a separate $105 purchase through the same portal, and there is no cap on how many you can select.2National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. How Do I Add a Score Transfer?

What You Need Before You Submit

Everything runs through your NABP e-Profile. Your legal name and personal details there must match what you provided during exam registration and what appears on your pharmacy school transcript. Mismatches trigger deficiency notices that stall the process.4National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. If I Sent My Transcripts to the Board of Pharmacy, Do I Also Need to Have Them Sent to NABP?

Two quick checks before you buy. Confirm the target state’s board of pharmacy actually accepts NAPLEX score transfers; most do, but policies are not identical. And have a credit or debit card ready, because payment is processed immediately with no invoicing option.

Your pharmacy school transcript should already be on file from your original exam application. If it isn’t, NABP needs an official transcript sent directly from the school’s registrar. Copies you send yourself don’t count.4National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. If I Sent My Transcripts to the Board of Pharmacy, Do I Also Need to Have Them Sent to NABP?

How to Submit the Request

Log into your e-Profile and go to Exam Services. If you are buying a transfer alongside your exam registration, the system prompts you to add jurisdictions during checkout. If you’ve already tested, the score transfer option sits in the same Exam Services area.2National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. How Do I Add a Score Transfer?

Select each state you want, review the summary and total, and pay. Once you submit, the request is permanent. You’ll see a confirmation screen and get an electronic receipt. Save it.

Fees and Refunds

Score transfers cost $105 per jurisdiction.1National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. NAPLEX Results Three states, for example, is $315 on top of your NAPLEX registration fee. Refund treatment turns on when you paid:

  • Purchased with your exam registration and then you cancel the exam application before sitting: transfer fees are refunded.
  • Purchased after you sit for the exam: nonrefundable, pass or fail.
  • Canceled after you receive results: nonrefundable.

The practical takeaway is simple. If you’re unsure which states you want, waiting until after you pass carries no extra refund risk, because fees are nonrefundable in both directions once you’ve tested. Buying early only helps if you end up canceling the exam itself.5National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. NABP Refund Policy

After Your Score Is Sent

Results post to your e-Profile within 14 business days of the exam.3National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. Where Do I Check My Examination Results? A passing score is 75 or higher on the scaled score. Once finalized, NABP electronically transmits your score to each state you selected, and you can track each transmission under Score Transfer or Purchase History.

Transmission is not a license. Every state has its own additional requirements before issuing a pharmacist license, which commonly include passing the MPJE or Uniform MPJE for that state, a criminal background check, verification of internship hours, and the state’s own licensure application fee.6National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. How to Apply for the MPJE/UMPJE Budget for these on top of the $105.

Internship hours are not verified automatically as part of the score transfer. Contact each state board directly to confirm what they already have and what documentation they still need. Most states require at least 1,500 intern hours before granting licensure.7National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. How Do I Verify My Internship Hours for the eLTP Application?

If You Don’t Pass

If you score below 75, NABP issues a candidate performance report breaking down your results by competency area. Score transfers already purchased are not refunded for a failing result.5National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. NABP Refund Policy A failed score simply won’t advance licensure anywhere.

Retakes are allowed after a waiting period, with specifics laid out in the Candidate Application Bulletin rather than on the main site.8National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. Can I Retake the Exam If I Fail? When you pass on a retake, a fresh 89-day window opens tied to that attempt. Any transfer fees spent on the earlier attempt are gone. That risk is the main reason some candidates wait for results before buying transfers, accepting a shorter remaining window in exchange.

If You Miss the 89-Day Window

Once the score transfer window closes, the Electronic Licensure Transfer Program is the fallback. eLTP charges a $300 application fee plus $100 per jurisdiction, so three states runs $600 compared to $315 through score transfer.9National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. Electronic Licensure Transfer Program (eLTP)

eLTP also requires that you already hold at least one active, unrestricted U.S. pharmacist license, and some states impose minimum licensure periods before you’re eligible to transfer in. All eLTP fees are nonrefundable regardless of outcome. Active military members, reservists, and honorably discharged veterans qualify for a 100% discount on eLTP fees; armed forces spouses receive 50%.9National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. A Note on the UMPJE

The same 89-day, $105-per-state transfer mechanism applies to the Uniform MPJE through the same e-Profile process.6National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. How to Apply for the MPJE/UMPJE Score transfer is available only for the Uniform MPJE, not for state-specific MPJE exams, so confirm which version your target state uses before you count on it.
