Neocortext Charge From Reface: How to Cancel, Refund, or Dispute

A “Neocortext” charge from Reface on your bank or credit card statement is a billing descriptor for NeoCortext, Inc., the company that makes the Reface face-swapping and AI content app. The charge almost always comes from a Reface subscription that auto-renewed, often after a free trial or a weekly plan a user forgot about. You can usually stop it by canceling through the platform you originally signed up on, requesting a refund within Reface’s short refund window, and, if that fails, disputing the charge with your bank.

Where the Charge Comes From

Reface is a mobile and web app that uses generative AI to swap faces in photos and videos and create AI avatars. It is developed by NeoCortext, Inc.1Dealroom.co. Reface Company Profile On statements, the descriptor may appear as “Neocortext,” “Neocortex,” or a close variation.

Why Canceling the Card Alone May Not Stop the Charges

Replacing or canceling the card on file is not a reliable way to kill the subscription. Visa and Mastercard operate an Automatic Billing Updater program that migrates recurring charges to a replacement card automatically when the old one expires or is reissued. If you want to be sure the charges stop, cancel the subscription at the source and, if you dispute with your bank, ask them to block future charges from the merchant as well.7Apple. Your Rights Under the FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule

Difficult subscription cancellations have drawn federal attention. In October 2024 the Federal Trade Commission finalized a “Click-to-Cancel” rule requiring businesses to make canceling as simple as signing up. The rule also requires clear upfront disclosure of material terms before billing information is collected and bans pre-checked consent boxes and terms buried in long agreements. Most provisions took effect in April 2025.10Federal Trade Commission.
