PeopleLooker Charge: How to Cancel, Refund, or Dispute

A PeopleLooker charge on your bank or credit card statement is a billing entry from PeopleLooker, an online people-search service that bills on a subscription basis. In almost every case, the charge is the monthly renewal that follows a $1 seven-day trial. You can stop it by canceling the subscription directly with PeopleLooker, and if the charge was unexpected you can ask for a refund or, if that fails, dispute it with your card issuer.

How to Recognize the Charge on Your Statement

The entry may not read “PeopleLooker” cleanly. According to the company’s support pages, the charge can appear under any of these descriptors:

  • PEOPLELOOKER*COM
  • PL*PEOPLELOOKER
  • PL PEOPLELOOKER.COM
  • PL*PEOPLELOOKER.COM
  • PEOPLELOOKER*LLC
  • PL*
  • PeopleLooker.com

If you see any of these, the charge came from a PeopleLooker trial or subscription.1PeopleLooker Support. How Will a PeopleLooker Charge Appear on My Credit Card Bill

Why the Charge Showed Up

PeopleLooker sells a seven-day trial for $1 that includes up to 100 reports.2PeopleLooker. Offers If you don’t cancel before the seven days end, the account rolls into a recurring monthly subscription. The company’s billing page states that memberships are “automatically renewed to the same term until you cancel.”3PeopleLooker. Billing

The monthly rate has historically been $24.99. Some customers have reported charges of $22.86 or $26.89 after a change in plan types.4Better Business Bureau. PeopleLooker LLC Complaints In a December 2024 response to a BBB complaint about a price increase, the company said the change was made “after careful consideration to help maintain our quality” and that affected customers were notified by email.

Most people who are surprised by the charge signed up to run one search, forgot about the trial window, and got billed weeks later.

How to Cancel the Subscription

You can cancel through any of four channels. Have your nine-digit member ID ready; it’s in the “New Member Welcome” email and in the Account Details section of your dashboard.

After cancellation you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for, and no further charges are made.3PeopleLooker. Billing

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel through those platforms. On Apple devices, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select PeopleLooker, and cancel. On Android, open the Google Play app, go to your account, then Subscriptions, and cancel there. Deleting the app does not stop the billing.3PeopleLooker. Billing

How to Request a Refund

PeopleLooker says it reviews refund requests on a “case-by-case basis.” Email support@peoplelooker.com or use live chat with your member ID. If the request is approved, the company says refunds are processed immediately but may take up to ten days to reach your bank.8PeopleLooker Support. How Can I Get a Refund

One limit to know about: Section 18 of PeopleLooker’s Terms and Conditions reportedly restricts customers to a single refund per subscription, stating that “repetitive refunds are not permitted.”5Better Business Bureau. PeopleLooker LLC Complaints

Also think twice before going straight to a chargeback. PeopleLooker warns that filing a chargeback with your bank will result in immediate account suspension, and the company says it will challenge the dispute and refuse to issue a refund on that transaction while the chargeback is in progress.9PeopleLooker Support. 10Federal Trade Commission. What PeopleLooker Reports Cannot Be Used For

One thing worth knowing if you’re sorting out what you actually paid for: PeopleLooker states in its terms that it is not a “Consumer Reporting Agency” under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which means its reports cannot legally be used for employment screening, tenant decisions, or credit eligibility.12PeopleLooker.
