The ASUS warranty covers hardware defects in materials and workmanship on the original components that shipped with your product, provided the failure happens during normal use within the warranty period. ASUS will repair or replace the defective part, or the product itself, using new or reconditioned components that are functionally equivalent or superior to the originals. Everything beyond that core promise — accidents, software, wear, user-installed parts, most accessories — sits outside the standard coverage and generally requires a separate paid plan.1ASUS. What Hardware Defects Are Covered
If a component like the motherboard, display, or keyboard fails on its own during ordinary use, ASUS services it at no charge during the warranty period. The coverage extends to the firmware that shipped on the device but explicitly excludes all software except what ASUS installed at the factory.1ASUS. ASUS Premium Care FAQ ASUS, not the customer, decides whether to repair or replace a defective part, and any replaced components become ASUS property. A part repaired or replaced under warranty is covered for the remainder of the original warranty period or three months, whichever is longer.2ASUS. ASUS Warranty Card Terms
How Long Coverage Lasts
There is no single warranty length across the ASUS product line. The term depends on what you bought and sometimes when you bought it.
- Consumer and gaming notebooks purchased on or after October 1, 2025, with a manufacturing date later than January 2024, carry a three-year warranty. Units purchased before that cutoff keep their original two-year term.3Guru3D. ASUS Extends Notebook Warranty to Three Years
- Most LCD monitors are covered for 36 months. Some older OLED models have 24 months, while newer OLED monitors like the PG32UCDM get 36 months that includes panel burn-in coverage.4ASUS. ASUS OLED Monitor Warranty FAQ
- Networking products such as routers and mesh systems run one to three years depending on model and region.5ASUS. RT-BE3600 Warranty Information
- Batteries are covered for only 12 months from purchase, regardless of the product’s overall warranty length.2ASUS. ASUS Warranty Card Terms
The warranty period is usually printed on a label on the back of the product, written as something like “24M” or “36M.” Without proof of purchase, ASUS starts the clock from its own recorded manufacture date, which can shorten the effective coverage. If that happens, you can upload a purchase invoice through the warranty inquiry page to correct it.2ASUS. ASUS Warranty Card Terms
Warranty coverage is not transferable. Only the original purchaser can file a claim, and coverage does not pass to a second owner if the product is resold.6ASUS. ASUS Warranty Policy
What the Warranty Does Not Cover
The exclusions list is long. In practice, the ones that come up most often are:
- Accidental and physical damage, including drops, liquid spills, cracked screens, and electrical surges. These need a separate Accidental Damage Protection plan.1ASUS. ASUS Premium Care FAQ
- Software and data. ASUS is not responsible for software issues, data loss, or restoring programs. Only software ASUS installed at the factory is in scope.1ASUS. ASUS Premium Care FAQ
- Normal wear and tear, including scratches, dents, and gradual deterioration.2ASUS. ASUS Warranty Card Terms
- User modifications. Installing non-ASUS parts, performing unauthorized repairs, or tampering with warranty seals or serial numbers voids coverage. Damage to user-installed components like aftermarket RAM, SSDs, or hard drives is not covered.7ASUS. ASUS Warranty Card
- External causes, such as power surges, natural disasters, third-party software or viruses, improper electrical connections, and use outside the conditions specified in the manual.7ASUS. ASUS Warranty Card
- Accessories and peripherals, including carry bags, cables, mice, and support discs.1ASUS. ASUS Premium Care FAQ
- Battery degradation. The 12-month battery coverage applies to manufacturer defects. Normal capacity loss from regular use is explicitly excluded.8ASUS. ASUS Premium Care
The Dead Pixel Threshold
Dead pixels are their own category. ASUS follows ISO 9241-302 standards, which treat a small number of pixel defects as acceptable. For laptop screens and most non-premium monitors, ASUS services the display only if it has at least 3 bright pixels, 5 dark pixels, or 8 total defective pixels. The display also qualifies if there are 2 adjacent bright or 2 adjacent dark pixels, or 3 defective pixels clustered within a 15 mm area.2ASUS. ASUS Warranty Card Terms Premium PG-series monitors get a stricter policy in the first 12 months: zero bright dots are allowed, though up to 5 dark dots are still tolerated.9ASUS. Accidental Damage and Other Paid Add-Ons
Because accidents fall outside the standard warranty, ASUS sells Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) separately. Most new ASUS laptops and portable displays include one year of free ADP, but it must be registered within 60 days of purchase to activate.10ASUS. ASUS Accidental Damage Protection ADP covers liquid spills, cracked screens from drops, electrical surges, and other accidental breakage during normal use. It does not cover scratches, dents, theft, loss, intentional damage, or damage from natural disasters. Only one ADP claim is allowed per coverage year, and total cumulative repair costs cannot exceed the original purchase price.11ASUS. ASUS Premium Care
Refurbished products, open-box products, international products, and anything purchased from Best Buy are excluded from ADP and ASUS Premium Care entirely.10ASUS. ASUS Accidental Damage Protection ADP is also not available for desktops, all-in-one PCs, or NV-series handheld consoles.11ASUS. ASUS Premium Care
Other Premium Care packages include:
- Warranty Extension, which stretches hardware coverage up to three years total for notebooks and up to five years for commercial notebooks. It must be purchased during the original warranty period and does not cover software, batteries, peripherals, accessories, or customer-caused damage.1ASUS. ASUS Premium Care FAQ
- Battery Service Package, which extends battery coverage beyond 12 months and entitles the customer to one battery replacement per year for manufacturer defects. Normal capacity reduction is still excluded. It must be purchased within 180 days of the product invoice date.8ASUS. ASUS Premium Care
- Local On-Site Service, which sends an authorized technician to your location if remote troubleshooting fails, typically by the next business day.8ASUS. ASUS Premium Care
- HDD Retention, which lets you keep a defective storage drive when it is replaced under warranty.1ASUS. ASUS Premium Care FAQ
Checking Status and Filing a Claim
You can confirm your remaining coverage on the ASUS Warranty Status Inquiry page using the product serial number, or inside the MyASUS app under User Center after logging in.12ASUS. ASUS Warranty Status Inquiry If the date looks too short because ASUS defaulted to the manufacture date, upload your purchase invoice to request a correction. ASUS reviews these and notifies you by email.13ASUS. How To Check ASUS Warranty Status
For a repair, start by running a hardware diagnostic through the MyASUS app or contacting support to confirm the issue, then create an online RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) at the ASUS repair portal. Upload proof of purchase if there is any dispute about the warranty end date. Processing typically takes 24 to 48 hours, after which ASUS emails an RMA number and shipping instructions.14ASUS. ASUS RMA Process
For in-warranty repairs, you pay one-way shipping to the repair center and ASUS covers return shipping. ASUS sells prepaid labels starting at $25 for components or $40 for systems. For out-of-warranty repairs, a non-refundable diagnostic fee is required upfront and includes two-way shipping. If you decline an out-of-warranty repair offer, ASUS may charge a diagnostic fee of up to $100.14ASUS. ASUS RMA Process There is no official repair turnaround guarantee; user reports suggest 15 to 20 days is typical for domestic repairs, with parts shortages pushing some cases to six to eight weeks or longer.15ASUS ROG Forum. How Long Does an RMA Normally Take The RMA portal now includes a pre-shipment photo upload feature; use it to document the device’s condition before it leaves your hands.16ASUS. If Your Claim Is Denied as Customer-Induced Damage
One of the most common friction points is a claim denied as “customer-induced damage” (CID). When a technician decides the damage was caused by the user rather than a manufacturing defect, the claim is denied and you become responsible for the repair cost.
Individual repair centers can no longer flag a product as CID on their own; all such determinations must be reviewed by ASUS corporate staff. A quotation format introduced in September 2024 breaks each repair line into “Covered Under Warranty,” “Optional,” or “Required,” so you can see what you are being asked to pay for and why.16ASUS. ASUS Service Improvement Timeline If you believe a CID classification is wrong, ASUS directs disputes to executivecare@asus.com. Include your name, RMA number, serial number, country, a description of the dispute, and supporting documentation such as invoices, quotes, or photos. ASUS states it will review submissions within one week.17Gamers Nexus. Confronting ASUS Face to Face
Federal Rights That Still Apply
Whatever ASUS’s warranty document says, U.S. consumers have additional rights under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Because ASUS provides a written warranty, federal law prohibits it from disclaiming the implied warranty of merchantability, the basic legal promise that a product will function as expected. ASUS can limit the duration of implied warranties to the length of its written warranty, but it cannot eliminate them.18Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 U.S.C. Chapter 50, Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
The Act also prohibits “tie-in sales” provisions, so ASUS generally cannot require you to use only ASUS-branded parts or services to keep your warranty, unless the product is provided free of charge or the FTC grants a specific waiver. A consumer who prevails in a warranty breach lawsuit can recover attorneys’ fees and court costs.19Federal Trade Commission. A Businessperson’s Guide to Federal Warranty Law
