La-Z-Boy warranty coverage is strongest at the core of the furniture and thinnest at the surface: frames, reclining mechanisms, and springs on standard residential recliners are covered for the product’s lifetime, while fabric, leather, cushion foam, and electrical parts carry much shorter terms, and labor is included only during the first year after purchase.
Lifetime Parts: Frames, Mechanisms, and Springs
Under normal residential use, La-Z-Boy covers the structural and mechanical bones of its upholstered furniture for the lifetime of the product against defects in materials and workmanship. That includes wood frame parts, metal, swivel, and wood bases, spring systems, reclining mechanisms on standard recliners, and sleep sofa mechanisms.1La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty
“Lifetime” here means the lifetime of the product, not the lifetime of the owner. The warranty covers defects — a frame that cracks under normal use, a reclining mechanism that fails — but it does not promise the furniture will last forever.1La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty
Luxury-Lift and Specialty Style Exceptions
Not every recliner gets lifetime coverage on mechanisms and springs. Certain Luxury-Lift and specialty style numbers — 2BL, 3BL, 1HM, 1PH, 1PL, 1PM, and 4LP — have significantly shorter periods. The 2BL style carries only one year of parts coverage on the reclining mechanism. The others get three years on mechanisms and three years on springs rather than the lifetime term standard models receive.2La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty If you own a lift chair, check the style number on the product identification tag against the warranty chart before assuming the lifetime term applies.
Fabric, Leather, and Cushions
The parts you actually touch and sit on are covered for far less time than the frame.
Fabric and Leather
Standard fabric and leather each carry a one-year warranty against defects such as seam failure, fabric separation, and nap loss. Fabric pilling, dye lot variations, and fading are explicitly excluded. Natural markings in leather are considered characteristics of the material rather than defects, and leather fading is not covered.3Rooms To Go. La-Z-Boy Warranty
The iClean fabric line is treated differently. Specific stains, including coffee, wine, juice, urine, ketchup, and others listed by La-Z-Boy, are warranted for three years as long as the owner follows the recommended cleaning methods. Applying any aftermarket fabric treatment voids the iClean stain warranty, and it does not cover oil-based products such as salad dressing, wax-based products such as candle wax, ink, or mustard.4La-Z-Boy. iClean Warranty
Seat Cushions
Cushion coverage depends on which foam your furniture uses:
- Standard polyurethane foam: one year.3Rooms To Go. La-Z-Boy Warranty
- ComfortCore and Contour cushions: three years.2La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty
- ComfortCore Plus with TEMPUR-Response Memory Foam: five years.2La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty
- ComfortDown cushions: five years.2La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty
The warranty covers “manufacturing and material defects” on cushions but does not publish a measurement threshold for how much softening or flattening counts as a defect, the way the mattress warranty does for sags. In practice the call is made case by case, often with an in-home inspection or photos sent through the dealer.5La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty
Electrical Parts and Power Recliners
Electrical parts and motors on power recliners get three years of parts coverage and one year of labor. Lighted cup holders fall under the same three-year parts term. Battery packs receive only one year of parts coverage and no labor coverage.6La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty The Luxury-Lift 2BL style again drops to one year on electrical parts.2La-Z-Boy. Labor Ends After One Year
This is the detail that catches most owners by surprise. La-Z-Boy pays reasonable and customary rates for labor only during the first year after purchase. After that, even when a reclining mechanism is still under its lifetime parts warranty, you pay the full cost of having a technician install the replacement. You are also responsible for service-part shipping, in-home inspection fees, and transporting the product to and from the dealer throughout the warranty period.7La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty
Consumers filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau have said they felt misled by the “lifetime warranty” language and were surprised to learn that installing a covered part could cost several hundred dollars out of pocket.8BBB. La-Z-Boy Complaints Trip fees and inspection fees are not provided for in the manufacturer’s warranty itself; independent dealers set their own policies and may charge them.9La-Z-Boy. - Incidental or consequential damages. La-Z-Boy limits its liability to repair, replacement, or substitution of the covered product, and refunds are not available.3Rooms To Go. La-Z-Boy Warranty
The warranty is non-transferable. It applies only to the original purchaser from an authorized La-Z-Boy dealer, so a used recliner comes with no warranty protection at all.3Rooms To Go. La-Z-Boy Warranty
Outdoor, Office, and Mattress Lines Are Different
Not all La-Z-Boy products are made by La-Z-Boy, and the warranty terms shift accordingly.
Outdoor Furniture
Outdoor pieces are manufactured by Casual Living. Cast and extruded aluminum frames carry a five-year warranty against structural failure, while steel and wrought iron frames are covered for one year. Rust and rust staining are excluded. Paint and powder coat finishes, wicker weave, straps, hardware, and stone tops each carry one-year warranties.2La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty Damage from fire, freezing, high winds, or other acts of nature is not covered, and the warranty is voided entirely without the original receipt.10La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty – Outdoor Furniture
Office Furniture
Office chairs are manufactured by True Innovations. They carry a ten-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, with upholstery and foam cushion material covered for only one year. The warranty is limited to users weighing under 275 pounds (125 kg), and claims go through True Innovations rather than through a La-Z-Boy dealer.5La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty
Mattresses
Mattresses have a ten-year limited warranty, and the coverage is more precisely defined than it is for upholstery cushions. It covers visible indentations or sags greater than one inch, splitting or cracking of foam, and manufacturing defects in the cover or stitching. A “normal increase in softness” of the foam is explicitly excluded, and the mattress must be used on a proper, supportive foundation; an improper bed frame voids coverage.11La-Z-Boy. Filing a Claim
Start with the authorized dealer where you bought the furniture. If that dealer is no longer in business, any other authorized La-Z-Boy dealer can take the claim with your proof of purchase. Have the following ready:
- A dated receipt showing where and when you bought the furniture.
- The ACK (Acknowledgement) number, style number, and cover number from the product ID tag underneath the furniture.
- The delivery date.
- A description of the problem.
The dealer may ask for photos, schedule an in-home inspection, or ask you to bring the furniture in for evaluation. If the dealer does not resolve the issue, you can escalate by writing to La-Z-Boy Incorporated, Attn: Comfort Care, One La-Z-Boy Drive, Monroe, MI 48162, or by calling Customer Care at (855) 802-6636.5La-Z-Boy. Parts and Warranty La-Z-Boy Incorporated does not have access to independent retailers’ sales or service records, so the quality of service can vary with the dealer even though the warranty terms are the same.12La-Z-Boy.
