What Does Rooms To Go 3-Year Warranty Cover?

The Rooms To Go 3-year warranty is a paid add-on called the Guard It Furniture Protection Plan. It covers accidental damage from the day your furniture is delivered and manufacturer defects that appear after the first year, running for three years total from the delivery date.1Fortegra. Rooms To Go Furniture Repair Plan Terms It is administered by a third party (Guardian, Fortegra, or Extend, depending on your purchase), and it carries a detailed exclusions list that decides most claims.

Rooms To Go itself handles two things directly without the plan: manufacturer defects found in the first year, and merchandise that arrives damaged.2Rooms To Go. Extended Service Contract Everything below is what the paid Guard It plan adds on top.

What the Plan Covers

Accidental Damage, Starting at Delivery

Accidental damage coverage is live the day your furniture arrives. The Fortegra-administered contract lists the specific categories that qualify:

  • Stains on fabric, vinyl, or leather from food, beverages, pet biological accidents, ballpoint pen ink, and nail polish. Nubuck, suede, and buffed leather are not included.
  • Punctures, cuts, and rips in wicker, fabric, leather, or vinyl from a single incident.
  • Chips and gouges that penetrate the finish on wood or case goods, including stone, marble, tile, and granite.
  • Liquid rings or marks from household food and beverages, and heat or burn marks causing discoloration or blistering from normal household items.
  • Breakage of glass and lamps (bulbs excluded), and loss of silvering on mirrors.
  • Minor cigarette, cigar, or pipe burns from a single incident.
  • One-time breakage of an umbrella or umbrella mechanism.1Fortegra. Rooms To Go Furniture Repair Plan Terms

The common thread: a single, identifiable incident. Gradual damage does not qualify.

Manufacturer Defects, Starting After Year One

Defect coverage kicks in only after the standard Rooms To Go warranty and any applicable manufacturer warranty have expired. What the plan then covers:

  • Finish cracking or peeling on solid wood, veneer, laminate, stone, faux stone, marble, tile, or granite surfaces.
  • Warping, cracking, breaking, or separation of frames, legs, panels, drawers, drawer guides, arms, spindles, and pedestal bases.
  • Seam separation on upholstery where the stitching fails and exposes foam, filling, or stuffing.
  • Broken or bent mechanisms, springs, and coils, and failure of electrical parts such as clocks, motors, and hydraulics.1Fortegra. Rooms To Go Furniture Repair Plan Terms

What the Plan Does Not Cover

The exclusions list is where most Guard It claims come apart. Read it before you file.

  • Normal wear and tear. The contract uses the phrase without defining it, and it is the most frequent reason denials cite.
  • Loss of foam resiliency. Sagging or softening cushion cores, backs, and arms are explicitly out.
  • Accumulated stains. A stain must come from a single incident; buildup over time is not covered.
  • Specific stain sources: dye, bleach, paint, acid, corrosive products, nail polish remover, chewing gum, perspiration, body oils, hair oils, and human biological stains.
  • Leather cracking, peeling, stress tears, and scaling. This applies to bonded, blended, nubuck, suede, split, and bicast leather, and knocks out a lot of what owners assume defect coverage would handle.
  • Surface-only damage. Scratches, rips, cuts, gouges, and scuff marks qualify only if they clearly penetrate the upholstery or clear-coat finish and expose bare wood or interior material. Superficial scratches do not.
  • Pet-caused fading and general soiling, even though a single pet biological stain does qualify.
  • Mattresses, box springs, and area rugs. These are not covered by the furniture plan at all.
  • Any product used in a commercial setting.3Rooms To Go. Extended Service Contract
  • Clearance or as-is items.
  • Pre-existing conditions and general odor complaints.1Fortegra. Rooms To Go Furniture Repair Plan Terms

One scope note worth flagging: the Guard It plan is a separate product from the ForceField Fabric Protection plan Rooms To Go also sells. ForceField is a narrower limited warranty covering only food and beverage stains on fabric treated with ForceField protectant.4Rooms To Go. How To File a Claim

If the damage is a manufacturer defect in the first year, or the furniture arrived damaged, call Rooms To Go Customer Care at 1-800-766-6786 or use the online service portal.2Rooms To Go. Extended Service Contract Everything else goes through the Guard It administrator named on your plan paperwork:

  • Guardian: gppclaims.com or 1-877-680-2620
  • Fortegra (4warranty Corporation): 4repairs.net or 888-835-8740
  • Extend: customers.extend.com/claims or 877-248-77072Rooms To Go. Extended Service Contract

Two rules decide a lot of claims. First, under the Fortegra contract, you must contact the administrator within 30 days of discovering the damage or defect. Missing that window is grounds for denial.1Fortegra. Rooms To Go Furniture Repair Plan Terms Second, do not clean the item or call an independent technician before you file. Unauthorized cleaning or repair work can void coverage.

When you call, be ready to describe how and when the damage occurred, the size and location of the affected area, and send photos if asked. If the claim is approved, you receive a Unique Authorization Number. You then call Rooms To Go at 1-800-766-6786 to schedule a technician using that number. The administrator may authorize cleaning, repair, replacement parts, full replacement, or a reselection from the store depending on what the item needs.2Rooms To Go. Cancelling the Plan and Getting a Refund

You can cancel Guard It at any time. Under the Fortegra contract, cancelling within the first 90 days gets you a full refund of the contract price, minus the cost of any claims already paid. After 90 days, the refund is pro-rated to the remaining term, again minus paid claims.1Fortegra. Rooms To Go Furniture Repair Plan Terms

State rules change the math. In Georgia, paid claims are not deducted from your refund, and a late refund triggers a 25 percent penalty plus 18 percent annual interest. In Florida, refunds after 90 days are calculated on 90 percent of the unearned pro-rata premium.

What To Expect From the Process

Service and repair complaints are the biggest category of consumer grievances against Rooms To Go. Of 1,381 Better Business Bureau complaints logged over three years, 854 involved service and repair.6Better Business Bureau. Rooms To Go Complaints The recurring patterns are worth knowing before you file:

  • Denials under the “normal wear and tear” exclusion for issues owners expected would be covered.
  • Long repair delays, with parts backordered for months and the item eventually declared discontinued.
  • In-store replacement credit offered rather than a cash refund when a product cannot be repaired.
  • Point-of-sale descriptions of the coverage that were broader than the written contract, leading to surprise when exclusions like leather cracking or pet soiling apply.6Better Business Bureau. Rooms To Go Complaints

The contract itself, not the sales pitch, controls what you get. Pull up your plan documents, check which administrator you have, confirm the damage falls inside a covered category and outside the exclusions, and file within 30 days.
