A Mercedes-Benz prepaid maintenance plan covers the factory-scheduled services your vehicle needs at each 10,000-mile interval: synthetic oil and filter changes, fluid level checks and top-offs, a multi-point inspection, and front wiper blade replacements at every visit, plus a cabin filter replacement and a brake fluid exchange at the 20,000- and 40,000-mile stops. It does not cover repairs, wear items like brake pads and tires, or any work done outside an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.
What’s Included at Each Service Interval
Mercedes-Benz vehicles follow an alternating service schedule in 10,000-mile increments. The lighter visit (Service A) falls at 10,000 and 30,000 miles. The more comprehensive visit (Service B) falls at 20,000 and 40,000 miles. Your prepaid plan pays for the factory-required work at each stop.
At every 10,000-mile service, the plan covers full-synthetic motor oil and a new oil filter, a check and top-off of coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, washer fluid, and AdBlue on diesels, a multi-point inspection, and a new set of front wiper blades.
At the 20,000- and 40,000-mile services, two items are added: the cabin dust or combination filter is replaced, and the hydraulic brake fluid is fully exchanged. A secondary 12-volt battery replacement is also included at these intervals on applicable models.
If you keep the vehicle on the Star plan past 40,000 miles, higher-mileage items enter the rotation. Spark plugs are replaced at 50,000 and 100,000 miles, the engine air filter every 30,000 miles, and the transmission oil and filter at 40,000 miles.
What the Multi-Point Inspection Checks
Every covered visit includes a multi-point inspection, which is a visual and functional check rather than a repair. Technicians look over coolant hoses, belts, the radiator, motor mounts, suspension components, and the exhaust system. They verify operation of exterior lights, mirrors, gauges, climate control, windows, seat belts, and horns. They measure brake pad thickness, check tire condition, and look for fluid leaks in the engine bay. Anything they find that needs correction is a separate repair, billed outside the plan.
Extra Services for AMG and Other Specific Models
Some models get additional work layered on top of the standard schedule. AMG vehicles receive rear axle oil changes, more frequent engine air filter replacements, and transmission oil and filter changes, with the intervals varying by model. CLA and GLA AMG variants follow a separate schedule in which rear axle oil and engine air filter service appear at nearly every visit. V12 AMG models add a coolant service. SL models get a rear differential fluid replacement.
What Electric Vehicle Plans Cover
Mercedes-Benz EQ electric models have a lighter maintenance list because there’s no combustion engine. New EQ vehicles come with a complimentary integrated service package for up to two years. After that, owners can buy a supplemental prepaid plan that extends coverage up to four years.
On an EQ plan, covered services are the charcoal particle filter replacement, the combination or dust filter replacement, brake fluid exchanges, fluid level checks, the multi-point inspection, and wiper blade replacements. Intervals differ between the EQB and the G 580 with EQ Technology on one hand and the EQE and EQS sedans and SUVs on the other.
The high-voltage lithium-ion battery, the electric powertrain, and related components are not part of the maintenance plan. Those sit under the vehicle’s separate warranty.
What’s Not Covered
The plans are limited to scheduled, preventive maintenance. They do not pay for:
- Breakdown or mechanical repairs between scheduled services.
- Wear-and-tear items including brake pads, rotors, and tires.
- Any service not specifically called for at that mileage interval, including diagnostic labor and parts not tied to the required maintenance.
- Work performed anywhere other than an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership. The plan is honored at more than 380 dealerships nationwide, but service at independent shops is not reimbursed.
- Vehicles whose odometer has been altered so actual mileage can’t be verified. Coverage is voided in that case.
- EV high-voltage battery and electric drivetrain components, which fall under the warranty instead.
Premier for New Vehicles, Star for Pre-Owned
Two versions of the plan exist. The Premier Prepaid Maintenance plan is for new vehicles and must be purchased before the car’s first service or before it reaches 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. It sells in two-, three-, and four-year packages and covers the scheduled service at each 10,000-mile mark within the term.
The Star Prepaid Maintenance plan is for pre-owned vehicles up to eight model years old with fewer than 80,000 miles. It comes in two- or three-year packages and covers the same 10,000-mile service intervals, running as far as 110,000 miles for longer-term owners. The core service items are the same; the Star plan’s chart simply includes the higher-mileage items (spark plugs, transmission fluid) that fall outside the Premier window.
What the Plan Costs
Mercedes-Benz doesn’t publish a national price list, and prices vary by dealer and can sometimes be negotiated. Pricing is tiered by model. A listing from Mercedes-Benz of Marion shows the range for the Premier plan:
- Tier 1 (A-Class, CLA, GLA): roughly $1,320 for two years up to $2,400 for four years.
- Tier 2 (C-Class, E-Class, CLE, GLC, GLB): about $1,520 to $2,770.
- Tier 3 (GLE): about $1,880 to $3,560.
- Tier 4 (S-Class, SL, GLS, G-Class, Maybach, AMG Performance): about $2,440 to $4,740.
- EQ electric models: the first two years are complimentary, and supplemental plans start around $670 for three years.
AMG entry performance variants (35, 43, and 53 badges) sit one tier above their base model. Full AMG Performance models (45, 55, 63, 65 badges) land in Tier 4.
Transferring or Canceling the Plan
Both the Premier and Star plans transfer to a new owner in a private sale. Coverage is tracked by VIN and honored at any authorized dealership nationwide.
The contract language says the plans are non-cancellable and non-refundable, but that language is subject to state law. In California, for instance, the agreement gives the purchaser the right to cancel at any time by submitting a written request to any authorized dealership, and refunds in states that allow cancellation are typically prorated by mileage or by services already used. Check the cancellation section of your signed agreement, since the terms depend on your state.
How the Maintenance Plan Is Different From the Warranty
The prepaid maintenance plan and the new vehicle warranty are separate products. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in components like the engine, transmission, electrical systems, and climate control, and it includes roadside assistance. The maintenance plan covers only routine upkeep: oil, filters, fluids, inspections, and wiper blades. Neither one substitutes for the other. Both require service at authorized dealerships, and both transfer with the vehicle in a private sale.
